Fridge Brilliance

  • At the end of the first episode, Magne hurls his father's sledgehammer (deliberately modeled to be reminiscent of most popular depictions of Mjølnir) over 1,500 meters. The second episode reveals it was embedded in the windshield of Vidar's car. But why didn't the hammer return to him, as it is famous for doing? Because that was a property of Mjølnir, made by the finest dwarven smiths and so powerful Thor himself needed a special gauntlet to hold it. It wasn't one of Thor's own powers, so Thor throwing any old non-Mjølnir hammer wouldn't get the benefit of it always returning to his hand, "no matter how far or fast he hurled it."

Fridge Horror

  • The Midgard Serpent escaping into the ocean at the end of the show may not be the happy ending it's presented as. The creature is already huge and has a taste for human flesh. We could be looking at some major Kaiju destruction in coastal areas. And it's not just humans that might be in trouble — the Serpent could probably wreck many ocean ecosystems with its huge appetite. Ironically, in such an environmentally-focused show, the finale has seemingly set up a nasty Introduced Species Calamity.
