In the court scene, Ace Face dazzles the other mods (and even impresses a couple of rockers) by nonchalantly opening his wallet and offering to pay his fine by writing out a cheque, right there in court. We later learn that he's not exactly the high-roller he seems to be, working as a lowly bellboy. However, it's because he has such a steady, ordinary job (which comes with the likely prospect of good tips) that he can buy an extra-fancy scooter and pay court fees, unlike the other deadbeat mods.
