• In the books, it took Newt a few days to get as sick as he was shown in the movie. And really, it probably took closer to a month because of the few weeks between the second and third book. But in the movie, it was at most two days between him getting sick and Thomas killing him. But in the book, once everyone realized he was sick, he didn't do much in the way of action. The reason he got so sick so quick in the film is because he was doing so much and the disease was pushed through his bloodstream so much quicker.
