Fridge Brilliance
- Gertrude and Charlotte's rivalry in Saint-Cyr. While Charlotte makes it clear that the reason she doesn't like Gertrude is that she's a conceited Attention Whore, Gertrude can't quite put her finger on why she dislikes Charlotte. Considering her later relationship with Anne and the fact that Gertrude and Charlotte "got really invested" in their roles as Star-Crossed Lovers Hermione and Orestes in Racine's Andromache, it is quite possible that there was a fair bit of subconscious Belligerent Sexual Tension on Gertrude's part.
Fridge Horror
- Considering how adamant Madame de Maintenon is that Gabrielle must win Marie-Louise's affection to spy on her because she remains the daughter of an enemy, it is likely she is just as double-faced and invasive herself with her sister Marie-Adélaïde, who loves her like a grandmother.
