Fridge Brilliance:

  • The enmity between Quetzalcoatl and Fenrir:
    • The series Quetzalcoatl is basically an expy of Tezcatlipoca. In Aztec Mythology, Quetzalcoatl is associated with the "demonic" dog Xolotl, who is as much an enemy of Tezcatlipoca as he is. Here, Fenrir doubles as an expy of Xolotl.
    • Likewise, Fenrir has a rivalry with several serpents in Norse Mythology, such as his sibling Jormungandr and Nidhogg. Here, Quetzalcoatl doubles as them.
    • Likewise, Quetzalcoatl was once the Wind Sun and is still associated with the current sun to some extent, while Fenrir and his children will devour the sun at the Ragnarok.
  • When the group arrive in Teodora's hospital room, Don Andres claims to be able to read all of the modern medical charts with some level of confidence, claiming it's because he was a barber. While this may seem like another silly Don Andres-ism, if he was indeed a barber at some point he may have had some basic medical training. As doctors and barbers were often considered the same profession back in the day. In some places in the past, it would be considered common sense to seek medical attention at your local barber shop, as such people would often double as the town doctor.

Fridge Horror:

  • Season 1 ends with a sequel hook all but stating Teodora will be physically travelling to the past. Which means her modern immune system will be exposed to various unfamiliar diseases including freaking smallpox! For that matter, what about the hospital? If even one living member of the team had previously been exposed it could be an epidemic.
    • I have to point that in Mexico isn't common to treat smallpox on the hospitals, you just stay at your house until you're healthy again. The most common way to get smallpox on the country is because of the vaccine or from another person who got it from the vaccine. So they're pretty safe from getting it on the hospital. Also it seemed more like Teodora was on a private hospital than the public ones, where it's more posible to be near more infectious diseases
    • The reason I specifically mentioned smallpox is that according to the World Health Organization it was wiped out in 1977 and formally declared eradicated in 1980. While obviously Leo and Marcella aren't pox-stricken it's entirely possible they've been exposed to it and resisted it. Meaning they could have infected Teodora's body, which could infect her mother, which could infect her husband, and so on. Not to mention if we get a second season Teodora will be travelling to a time before modern medicine and smallpox eradication.
    • First of all I would like to highlight that small pox is only non-existent due to inoculations against it. Secondly it's FORMERLY eradicated, that doesn't mean actually eliminated, in fact there is a room in a vaccination research center that is devoted to containing the remnants of the smallpox virus. And finally smallpox was effectively a death sentence that could not be cured, in fact the vaccine for smallpox was actually an injection of cowpox.
      • If Leo and Marcella weren't killed by the advanced bacteria, pollution, and diseases of the early 21st century entering their bodies, I think Teodora's gonna be alright.
      • Also, to end the discussion Teodora just does an astral travel to travel on time and it's pretty competent at it (just check how she reanimated Marcella). Is possible that she will continue doing that, since that form is even more useful than having her physical body with her.
      • It's also possible that since she was revived by the reborn Quetzalcoatl, her physical body could start to develop similar abilities to her astral projected form.

Fridge Logic:

  • I was intrigued with why Marcella points the season as a reason to give Teodora. a blanket, since Mexico is a tropical country. Then it hit me that, Quetzalcoatl is going to be reborn. His... birthday? is December 25 (yes, as Jesus). So of course Teodora would need a blanket. It's winter after all! (and if the structure of the city is somewhat accurate, Teodora lives on Mexico City, one of the coldest major cities on Mexico)
  • So the gorgon wasn't able to kill Teodora because Teodora isn't actually a ghost. That being said, Teodora's phone wasn't a ghost phone, so how did it work on the gorgon?
    • It got smashed by a truck. Either that, or it's a covert reference to the olden theory that photography would steal your spirit.
    • The skeleton girl gave her a ghost replica of her phone.
