Fridge Brilliance

  • Darksiders III neatly ties up certain Plot Holes that have floating around after the last two games:
    • The Charred Council setting up The Conspiracy to get rid of War in Darksiders is the result of them being either Drunk with Power or, as suggested by Envy during The Reveal, were corrupted by the influence of The Seven Deadly Sins after they were unleashed in the pre-mature End War. Sending Fury off on what amounts to a Suicide Mission to destroy the Sins can be seen as a way for the Council to cover up the fact that they've become The Corruptible.
    • Ulthane assisting War in the first game, despite the former being a conspirator of triggering the End War with Abaddon and Azrael, and knowing War is tasked by the Charred Council to kill all who are guilty of the crime, is because Fury explicitly asks Ulthane to help her brother at the climax of this game, knowing full well of War's innocence. Provided players ensure Fury helps Ulthane over the course of Darksiders III by rescuing surviving humans and sending them to Haven, he essentially owes the Horsemen a favor.
    • War acquiring Strife's firearm "Mercy" from Ulthane in Darksiders is because the latter has been working with Ulthane and the Makers from the very beginning and is following through with the same thing Fury asks Ulthane to do as she leaves with the humans: assist War in any way possible (assuming, of course, Strife deliberately left it behind for Ulthane to give to War).
  • Why does the real Envy utilize a greatsword, a scythe and twin hand cannons? Because she's envious of the power of the Horsemen.... besides Fury. Additionally, her design combines elements of every Horseman besides, again, Fury. Why is Fury left out? Because Fury is the weakest Horseman, and Envy likely sees her as not worth copying. Furthermore, it's implied that the bird hag fought at the beginning is what Envy usually looks like due to Fury immediately recognizing her, yet she takes a form styled after the Horsemen at the end; potentially to rub her power in the Charred Council's face.
