Fridge Brilliance

  • Chakan is a game known for its brutal difficulty, not helped by the fact that the game does not have a save system, nor does it have a password system. However, there is one unique feature to the game; it is impossible to get a Game Over. If at any point Chakan “dies” on a level, he simply respawns at the hub stage and the player has to redo the entire level. There are unlimited continues, so the only way a player loses the game is if they themselves stop playing. This plays perfectly into the game’s story, because Chakan himself has Complete Immortality. Since Chakan cannot die, it makes sense that the game cannot be stopped with a “death”. For the game to truly end, the player has to keep playing no matter how many times Chakan “dies”. Without a password or save system, they must keep playing as long as necessary to finish the game, and if they stop then it will all be for nothing. Which is exactly what Chakan himself has to endure.
