- Lockhart being Regulus Black.
- Harry notes that Lucius's name is the second-to-last among the Princes, which means that there was a Prince between 1972 and 1991. Regulus is, the only named Slytherin from that era who could plausibly have fit.
- Lockhart's old Care of magical creatures book survived the effects of Pandora Lovegood's use of Imago Dei due to "experimental wards" on his Gringotts vault. The Blacks are notorious for their extreme paranoia, as well as the unusual protections they place on their Gringotts' vaults.
- During the year 2 Lockhart expresses sadness at the thought of sibling rivalry driving apart the Weasley Twins and later the Potter Twins. He actively tried to get the Potter Twins to cooperate by giving them both reason to dislike him.
- In the St Mungo visit Augusta Longbotton has a lengthy conversation about the Conscription Act in which she strongly implies that there are other Blacks besides Tonks who have the Metamorphmagus gift but who successfully conceal it to avoid conscription.
- Lockhart comments that his mother would have had "a conniption" if she'd learned that he'd destroyed the family pensieve. Walburga Black was indeed known for her fits of uncontrollable rage.
- Lockhart is somehow on first name terms with Lucius Malfoy. Something that Lucius himself is rather surprised at. Naturally Regulus and Lucius would have met each other during their Death Eater days, along with the fact that Lucius married Regulus' cousin.
- One of the people who had Lockhart seemingly steal the credit for their heroics is an Australian auror named Lazarus White who then mysteriously disappeared. When one remembers the fact that "Lazarus" is the name of a man in the Bible who was famous for coming back from the dead and "White" is the opposite of Black (alongside the habit of certain wizards to use inside jokes when it comes to their aliases) the conclusions speak for themselves.
- Ron was very different during the second year. Tom Riddle diary was controlling him.
- It was also noted that Ron had suddenly become a lot more studious. In particular he was rarely seen without a certain little black "notebook".
- Pettigrew was able to calm transformed Lupin. Later is revealed he is the heir of Emeric the Evil, the creator of the werewolves and can control them.
- In his first year Harry said this note
