Tropes
- Affectionate Nickname: Sophie gives The Winter Soldier a nickname, Winter. This is because she doesn't think a title qualifies as a real name.
- Attempted Rape: Poor Sophie has survived three rape attempts in the story, this far (chapter 19). Winter Soldier saves her all three times, although one of the times it was his fault he had to save her in the first place
- Brain Washed: The Winter Soldier describes himself as hydras asset, and that is all he is in his own mind. Sophie however manages to make him doubt that.
- Carpe Diem: Do not let life dissiperar while living in your fantasy. This is an important theme, as Sophie has been living in books for years, never socialized or had any boyfriend or girlfriend, right up until the story began.
- Hidden Power: It is hinted at very early that Sophie has some special abilities. In chapter 18, it is revealed that Sophie has the ability to absorb information form technology
- Mind Rape: What Hydra is doing to The Winter Soldier could definitively be described as this. Sophie often reminds herself that he, despite after everything he has done to her and others, he is a victim himself.
- Stockholm Syndrome: Sophie and Winter's relationship could be decried something like this, although it's not entirely certain.
