One Piece - Mad World

The World of One Piece is a much darker and grittier place then Oda has given it credit. With Pirates, Marines, Sea Monster - OH MY! Guess all it needs to change things up is for someone to be reincarnated and re-evaluate the standards. Hope the familiar faces and worn out places can handle the revolution.
This work provides examples of:
- Adaptational Badass:
- Luffy. Compared to his canon counterpart, MW!Luffy has been trained by Garp in the Rokushiki/Six Powers, is capable with all three forms of Haki(though he struggles with Armament to a degree), has developed several jailbreaks for his Devil Fruit (such as making himself immune to most poisons), and is far more intelligent (having been a soldier and later a professor in his past life). Moreover, MW!Luffy has far more experience, having set out into the East Blue at age 8 due to circumstances following the “death” of Sabo.
- Usopp. While he was already fairly capable in canon(especially considering he was one of the “weaker” Straw Hats), Mad World Usopp has already become so much more capable by virtue of eating the Tori-Tori no Mi, Model: Raven. Combined with the fact that he’s being trained alongside all the other Straw Hats by Luffy, and it’s safe to say the Monster “Trio” is going to have a few new members.

- Don Krieg is one-shotted by Luffy during the Baratie battle.
- Arlong and his Fishman crew were devastated by the Straw Hats in the battle to liberate Nami’s home. Every single citizen they had tormented and basically enslaved for the better part of a decade watched as Luffy and his crew literally tore Arlong and the other Fishmen apart in one of the story’s more gruesome moments.
- Shout-Out:
- The names of Luffy's snails Pinky and Brain and their behavior are taken from "Pinky and the Brain"
- Various video game characters are used in a poker match:
- A reference to Iron Maiden's song "Charlotte the Harlot" is made in chapter 9 in the conversation between Luffy and Alvida
- The Pogues is referenced in two chapters:
- Chapter 9 when Johnny and Yosaku enter a bar called "The Sickbed of Cú Chulainn"
- Chapter 10 when Zoro mumbles about getting "Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash"

- Kakashi from Naruto get an out-of-universe sneeze cut
- Streusen gets one when someone talked about his devil fruit in a cooking contest
- Big Mom gets one when someone mentions a lost daughter

- Kuina, Zoro’s rival. Due to Zoro having a rare moment of logic, he confronted Kuina’s father and ended clearing up the miscommunication that helped lead to Kuina’s death in canon, while mending their friendship in the process. As a result, she has joined Zoro on the Straw Hat crew as one half of the “Yin and Yang Swordsmen”.
