- Adaptational Badass: Being a Butterfly and having the wand means that Luz is far more powerful than she was at the beginning of her canon journey.
- Adaptational Personality Change: Luz is a lot more quiet and withdrawn in this AU (to the point of being selectively mute), in large part because of her eyes.
- Blow That Horn: In this AU Luz's wand takes the form of a horn.
- A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Read: Luz's eyes let her read people's intentions, which has exposed her to the dark thoughts of others from a young age, and showing her how anyone trying to be her "friend" back home were merely doing so on their parent's instructions for them.
- Living Toys: Luz's main friend is a snake doll named Zulu, who tends to do most of the talking for her.
- Shout-Out: Luz's powers and wand design are heavily inspired by Heimdall in God of War Ragnarök.
