Just Our Luck
is a Miraculous Ladybug fanfic written by Exotos135. It is Recursive Fanfiction based on Two Letters.
Bunnyx manages to steal the Ladybug earrings after Marinette summons Gimmi and turns her earrings over to Lila, but before Lila has a chance to actually use the earrings to cause problems. After Marinette makes her Wish and modifies reality (while Bunnyx hides in the Burrow to keep herself and her memories safe), Bunnyx decides to give the earrings to the Alix of the new timeline, figuring that Alix won't use them corruptly like Lila would and also won't end the world like Marinette did. But she remembers too late that the Wish always introduces a cost for each change, and so if the world has changed such that Lila no longer has a certain powerful Miraculous, she'll likely have a different, equally powerful one to compensate.
Such as Alix's Miraculous.
- Betrayal Insurance: Marinette says she'll hang on to the ring Miraculous just in case Lila goes rogue.
- Downer Ending: The story ends with Lila having the power to control time itself.
- Near-Villain Victory: Played straight at first when Bunnyx shows up and yanks the earrings away from Lila before she can use them. Then averted when Lila gets the watch Miraculous instead and is able to use it before anyone can stop her.
- Oh, Crap!: Bunnyx's reaction when she realizes that Lila likely has the watch Miraculous and can control time.
- Recursive Fanfiction: Based on Two Letters, though with at least one major change: in this version of the story, Marinette actually made a Wish and rewrote reality in some way, while in the original, she was planning on doing so if Luka ever broke up with her but hadn't actually done it yet.
- Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: The beginning of the story, where Lila and Marinette have to work together to summon Gimmi and make sure the right people have the right Miraculouses, shows how they clearly despise each other and are only cooperating for the sake of what they can get out of the temporary alliance.
