- Fantastic Racism: Despite outright knowing that humans are somewhat sentient here, the gems (except for Pink Diamond and Green Pearl) still barely seem to care about the fact that they could all be killed when the colony's finished.
- The Ghost: White Diamond has yet to appear in the story, only interacting with the other characters through intermediaries (such as her Pearl).
- Happiness in Slavery: Pink Pearl is this, saying that the other Gems are "automatically" superior to them when she runs into White Pearl.
- Pragmatic Villainy: Pink Diamond tries to invoke this as a cover for preserving Earth's native species, by trying to delay construction to base other Gems off of her own gestation (which produced enough energy to power the area around her despite draining it of Life Energy beforehand), so that she could essentially do this forever. Yellow Diamond doesn't care.
