BUBBLE Studios is a Russian film and television production company and subsidiary of BUBBLE Comics. The studio was founded in 2015 by Artyom Gabrelyanov, the creator of BUBBLE Comics' publishing house, for the purpose of adapting BUBBLE properties to movies and television.
The experience of Marvel Comics acted as a guideline when creating the studio; just as the company had founded Marvel Studios for film adaptations of its own comics, BUBBLE created its own film division, and also decided that all the adaptations of its own comics would take place in one common fictional universe. Vladimir Besedin was the first head of the film division, as well as the director of its first major project, a Short Film based on the comic book series Major Grom.
Initially, the studio planned to release seven feature films (one for each of the six main BUBBLE Universe characters, and one crossover) before 2022, with Besedin as director; these were supposed to be the first phase of the publishing house's movie cinematic universe. However, after Besedin left the director's chair and stepped down as head of the studio, the short film was declared non-canon to the series, forcing a Continuity Reboot. The studio's first full-length feature film, Major Grom: Plague Doctor, was released in 2021.
