An awkward loser who moves to Valewood to inherit his grandfather's old home and discovers a strange secret hidden within.
Tropes:
- Butt-Monkey: In his first ten minutes in the town, he had a large stack of boxes land on him, fell out of the bus, lost his keys and was generally intimidated by a local creepy voice.
- Cowardly Lion: Andrew's attempt to ask for help at Burns Realty is quickly abandoned after its inhabitant tells him he is beyond help.
- Deadpan Snarker: A bus driver tells him to sort his life out; his response is that he appreciates the advice as he was in fact planning on staying where he was and dropping dead.
- Establishing Character Moment: He falls off the bus that brought him to Valewood and promptly loses the keys to his new house in the process.
- Socially Awkward Hero: Andrew has no idea what he's doing, for the first few pages at least.

- Establishing Character Moment: May hurls her alarm clock across the room and breaks it after it wakes her up. She also immediately assumes the worst of Andrew after witnessing his arrival.
