- Adaptational Intelligence: The three heroes are significantly more competent than their canon counterparts, with the exception of Motoyasu.
- Adaptational Nice Guy: While their ideologies may not align perfectly with Naofumi's, the three heroes are significantly less jerkish than their canon counterparts (though Motoyasu still has some Jerkass tendencies). (It helps that they're full-fledged characters this time around instead of cartoonishly dumb and/or asshole-y failures of heroes who only exist to gas up Naofumi as in canon.)
- Age Lift: Instead of being 16, 21, and 17 as in canon, Ren, Motoyasu, and Itsuki are 18, 23, and 19 (respectively).
- We ARE Struggling Together: All four heroes cooperate in taking down the Waves of Apocalypse, but beyond that, their ideological differences drive a wedge between them. Even Itsuki, who is a Leninist, and Naofumi, who's a socialist anarchist, often butt heads despite both being socialists, though it's less this and more Teeth-Clenched Teamwork between them.
An 18-year old high-school senior and liberal who was one of three men mysteriously transported into the world they now find themselves in after logging into the RPG in which it was set. He helps Naofumi to understand game mechanics and participates in the internal politics of Melromarc to aid him in his goals of freeing the slaves of Melromarc, though his liberal beliefs and conflict-averse tendencies have kept him from committing to the revolution the same extent as Naofumi and Itsuki.
A 23-year old college student and centrist who was one of three men mysteriously transported into the world they now find themselves in after logging into the RPG in which it was set. He soon became an Unwitting Pawn to Princess Myne Melromarc.
A 19-year old college student and Leninist who was one of three men mysteriously transported into the world they now find themselves in after logging into the RPG in which it was set. As Naofumi launched a revolution against the Melromarc monarchy, Itsuki began his own vanguard party to join the revolution and eventually joined forces with Naofumi, though things haven't exactly been smooth-sailing between them.
