* DeusAngstMachina: Yamcha and Bulma's breakup was never explained, though this was mostly due to Toriyama's disinterest in romance and romantic relationships. Toriyama later claimed that it was due to Yamcha being a cheater, which is an OutOfCharacterMoment, InformedAttribute, and formerly DubText at the very best- or blatant assassination of his character at the worst.

* InformedAttribute: Toriyama's statement is that he's a cheater, with Trunks even mentioning how Yamcha was unfaithful to Bulma. However, what we see on-screen is that Bulma tends to be the one who flirts with multiple villains while Yamcha was never once shown to be seriously unfaithful and in a later interview, Toriyama even mentioned how Yamcha got fired from a bouncer job because of his fear of women, making it difficult to view Yamcha as the philandering playboy he's made out to be and even late into the series, Yamcha is still shown to be single and without anyone in his life resembling a significant other.

While Yamcha was always a bit of a ButtMonkey in Dragon Ball's run, videogames and later media play it up so badly you'd be surprised if he ever accomplished anything in the series. It's true tthat Yamcha was constantly hit by TheWorfEffect, he did have his accomplishments against See-Through, holding off a half-starved Goku and a Great Ape Goku, put up a decent fight against Tien, learning the Kamehameha and being the first to invent a brand new ki technique, and even defeated the Saibaman who killed him. But since his failures are often overshadowing any of that, this feats are pushed aside in favor of pointing out his shortcomings.
** Yamcha's spirit ball is ''tiny'' when originally shown off, no bigger than a golf ball as it was needed to move around underground undetected to catch Hero (actually Kami) off guard. The games make the technique far bigger than that to make it seem more dangerous/impressive.

* WorfHadTheFlu: Yamcha actually easily defeated the Saibaman that challenged him, but his confidence and belief that his opponent was truly down for the count lead to him being surprised attacked in a TakingYouWithMe move. It's shown in ''FighterZ'' that if he saw the attack coming, he would have countered and taken care of the beast easily.

* IJustWantToBeSpecial: Despite the constant barrage of TheWorfEffect undoubtedly leading to Yamcha retiring from fighting, it is heavily implied that Yamcha still wants to be a hero and be of use in a fight. The best show of this was in ''Super'' during the Tournament Of Power arc, where he holds out hope that Goku's going to recruit him (though to be fair, Goku's initial plan didn't even include Tien either), getting more desperate as time goes on. Sadly, he does not get his wish.

* OutOfCharacterMoment: Granted, it's more of an InformedAttribute, but Yamcha being claimed to be a cheater is not only uncharacteristic, but also not a trait that doesn't make sense for him to have given his NiceGuy attitude and his lack of interest in other women when he's on-screen.

* ReallyGetsAround: According to Future Trunks, this is the reason Bulma eventually left him for Vegeta in that timeline. What's ironic is that Yamcha was initially extremely shy around girls at the start of the series and said he wanted to get married.
