• The pegasus Thunder Chaser, still a colt, saves his schoolmate Whisper from an angry bear — by diving and trampling it on the head. This isn't enough, so Thunder Chaser attacks again. This time the bear inflicts a compound leg fracture on the pegasus. Thunder Chaser continues harassing the bear until the arrival of the rest of the camping party scares off the bear. This earns Thunder Chaser his cutie mark — a winged shield — and sets him on the path to join the Royal Guard.
