• Gail knocks both kidnappers out of the raft with oars during one escape attempt.
• Everything Tom does after being seperated from the others embodies the Took a Level in Badass trope. He climbs cliff faces, uses a smoke signal to warn his wife not to risk death at a key moment and does some low-key Macgyvering to set a trap that will knock the criminals out of his wife's raft.
• Gail pulls a Secret Test of Character on Wade by pretending that she's out of bullets to determine whether he will try to kill her. He does, and she makes a Pre-Mortem One-Liner and shoots him down.
