Awesome / The Purge: Election Year

Go To

  • Any character receiving their Big Damn Heroes moment, in this order:
    • Joe and Marcos taking out a group of Russian Purgers and saving Leo and Roan.
    • Laney and Dawn running down Kimmy and her friends as they attempted to attack the store, followed by Laney gunning down the rest of Kimmy's friends before shooting Kimmy herself in the head, splattering her brain cells all over the street.
      "Pequena Muerte is back, bitches!"
    • Marcos shooting Warrens in the head before Warrens could slit Roan's throat, followed by the resistance members barging in and shooting up the rest of the NFFA members.
  • Dante's heroic sacrifice. Doubles as a tearjerker.
  • The final fight between Leo and Dazinger.
  • Joe killing Harmon. Also doubles as a tearjerker as he dies afterwards.
  • Seeing the Neo Nazi military force get killed by the Crips. Regardless on the audience's worldview of the Crips (which may be a case of lesser evilism in this regard), there is something satisfying about seeing White Supremacists (if that was indeed what they were, see Alternate Character Interpretation above) shot down by a predominantly African American group.
  • The fact that the Purge might finally end if the movie's final scenes are anything to go by.
    • Watch the final scenes again and it becomes terrifying since the final newscast reveals that the NFFA's supporters have essentially kicked off a civil war in protest of losing the election.
    • However, the terrifying factor might be mitigated when you remember that they just lost the elections. Now considering what we know about the NFFA and what we saw them doing, it isn't unlikely that they resorted to every possible trick to tip the scales in their favors for elections, including gerrymandering and limiting access to the necessary documents. And they still lost. Not to mention that any regime working similarly to them resorts to pretending to have way more supporters than they actually do through propaganda. Yes, it is scary that the NFFA supporters are ready to revolt, but they are probably about to find out that are much fewer willing to stand with them than they expected.
    • With how bittersweet the ending of the film is, how does it end? With "I'm Afraid of Americans". Fitting.
