Awesome / The Immortal Thor

Go To

  • The first issue hits the ground running with showing off Thor at his greatest:
    • The story opens with Thor joining the Warriors Four in confronting an army of Frost Giants, but Thor doesn't threaten the Giants. No, he shames the snow storm. Pulling the disappointed dad routine on it causes the storm to disperse and the Giants run away in terror with their advantage gone.
    • When Thor returns to Earth, one panel shows him busting into a building to rescue a mutant being harassed by Orchis. The next panel shows Thor demanding Orchis get back on their feet so he can smite them again. Might not be a Fall of X banner book, but there's nothing wrong with Orchis-smashing!
  • Issue 3 has Loki's Secret Test of Character for their brother. As part of the test, Thor decides to forge a new weapon out of the nearest available resource, which in this case is his helmet.
  • Issue 5 sees Thor defeat Toranos not through force, but by giving him what he wants. Thor allows Toranos to grab Mjolnir and receive the power of Thor - which includes everything that makes Thor a good person; "A fine tautology" . The Elder God then has a complete psychological breakdown after having a conscience suddenly thrust upon them.
  • Issue 10: As in Immortal Hulk, Dario Agger has spent several issues assuming he can get away with anything and everything. Then he notices the way Skurge is looking at him... "so it goes."
