  • Katniss and Gale shooting down The Capitol's firebombers with their arrows. This is followed by Katniss making the propaganda video to show off to The Capitol what she and everyone else can do to fight back.
If we burn, you burn with us!
    • And her entire speech is quoted word-for-word from the book.
  • The citizens of Districts Seven and Five making their moves against the Capitol. Five's moment is especially awesome, as a group of them perform a Heroic Sacrifice in order to take out an entire hydroelectric dam, and knock out power to most of the Capitol in the process.
    • Five wins, hands down. District Seven's rebels have mines and tree ninja skills, and blow up a few dozen Peacekeepers. Five's rebels are unarmed. They're just ordinary people...except they're not. They blow up the Capitol's power dam. Hundreds of them just keep coming, no matter how many get shot down, overwhelming the Peacekeepers through sheer ferocity and weight of numbers. Every time someone gets shot down, more people just run forward to take their place, until they finally make it to the line of peacekeepers and brutally disarm them. Especially notable is that several people carrying the bombs are shot and killed, but someone else always picks the weapons up to carry them forward. It's a Self-Destructive Charge bordering on Tranquil Fury.
  • The entire "Hanging Tree" sequence, from beginning to end, is one of the most powerful scenes in the franchise.
  • Peeta warning Katniss, and the others in District 13, about the impending bombing. Though the movie cuts the feed immediately the book keeps him on air long enough to show he's being beaten bloody and knocked unconscious for his troubles. The fact that he was able to give them this warning despite weeks, or possibly months, of torture and the hijacking process having already begun at this point really says something about his strength of character.
  • District 13 flies a mission right through the Capitol's defenses, and then a fantastically well-shot rescue mission plays out in near-total silence as the District 13 strike team silently rappels down into the Tribute Center, gassing every room, lit only by eerie red lights as they infiltrate the Center.
  • As terrifyingly sudden as it is, Peeta attacking Katniss shows off his skills in hand-to-hand combat. Granted, Katniss is so shocked that she doesn't fight back, so it borders on Tear Jerker instead.
