Awesome / The Brood Saga

• Issue 161 features Professor X flashing back to his first meeting with Magneto. When a band of HYDRA soldiers kidnap Gabrielle Haller the two mutants (neither of whom knows of the other’s powers yet) team up to take them on and use their abilities to tear through the Nazi agents. Magneto probably gets the best moment of the issue though, using his magneto-kinetic abilities to crush Baron Von Strucker’s hand within the Satan Claw before making off with the very gold that the Nazis had come to reclaim.
• Wolverine is left alone and running from the Brood in Issue 162. Struggling to purge the Brood Queen embryo from his systerm and desperate to free his friends he unleashes a berserker rage on the Brood not seen since his decimation of the Hellfire Club. It makes it doubly impressive that he so effectively tears through them seeing as the Hellfire Pawns were normal humans while the Brood are gigantic parasitic aliens with armor-plating covering their body.
• Kitty has a moment in 163 where she’s cornered by a Brood warrior in an airlock. Going against her belief that she should never kill, Kitty decides to save herself and Kurt (who’s stuck floating in space) by blowing the airlock and sending the warrior flying out into the vacuum of space while she goes intangible to stay inside the ship.
