  • As if being the first major wrestling star to come out of Japan and the man who trained the two biggest names in Puroresu history wasn't enough:
    • On October 7, 1957, he went to a 60-minute time limit draw with Lou Thesz in the first NWA World Heavyweight Title match in Japan. It got a televised rating of 87.
    • On March 28, 1962, he defeated WWA (Los Angeles) World Heavyweight Champion Freddie Blassie for the title in Los Angeles, making him the first wrestler from Japan to win a major American wrestling title.
    • His 1963 two out of three falls draw against The Destroyer was the most watched televised event in Japanese history (but was rated lower than the Thesz match due to changes in the ratings system, giving it a mere 67)
