Awesome / Rick Rude

Go To

  • His 13-month reign as WCW United States Champion. He likely would have defeated Ron Simmons for the WCW Title at Starrcade 92 if he hadn't suffered a neck injury shortly before the event.
  • Actually being able to finish, and win, the International World Title match where he got the career ending back injury.
  • The Raw/Nitro stunt. In addition, episodes of Hardcore TV were he was appearing were also airing that week, meaning that he had appearances in all three major promotions of the era in that week.
  • In the aftermath of the Montreal Screwjob, Rick Rude was one of the people who confirmed what had really happened to the WCW higher-ups: apparently, there was some skepticism from Eric Bischoff that what they were seeing wasn't really a work.note  However, Rude had been so disgusted by the display that he called Bischoff and told him: No, what you're seeing wasn't a work. Bret Hart was legitimately screwed. Rude cared about the boys in the back.
  • Crosses with Heartwarming: Being posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame 2017 class. Particularly his oldest son giving the acceptance speech. Not only was he very charming and funny, he capped it off by perfectly re-creating his father's "What I would like to happen right now" promo.
