Say what you will about the plot, the film does have its awesome moments...
As a Moments subpage, all spoilers are unmarked as per policy. You Have Been Warned.
- The effects used in the film, from the green screen effects of recreating video games in real life, to creating characters like Pac-Man in the real world, it is stunning.
- The entire Pac-Man sequence is not only visually impressive, but surprisingly intense.
- Especially the part where Sam Brenner manages to trick Pac-Man into trying to eat his Ghost just as the Power Pellet runs out. A tense moment followed by relief that Earth lives to fight another day. At least, until the cheating is exposed...
- The final battle against Donkey Kong may be cheesy, but it has one hell of a Heroic Second Wind.
- Add in a kickass remix of Queen's 'We Will Rock You' as background music and you have a recipe for an awesome scene.
- Brenner's "I've been waiting to do this since 1982," followed by throwing his hammer at Donkey Kong, defeating him and ending the war.
- Brenner in general; someone who has the ability to recognise seemingly random patterns in early video games, back when such a skill was virtually unheard of; as well as being friends with the POTUS, and finally, being on a first name basis with the White House staff... That is pure awesome.
- The guy prevented Sean Bean's character from getting killed. Say what you will, but a lot of characters from otherwise better works can't boast that accomplishment.
