- In Chapter 19: Wrath, Shinji/Ultraman, Asuka (Unit 01), and Toji (Unit 02) have to stop a rampaging Godzilla. The two Evas are defeated rather swiftly leaving Shinji to face Godzilla alone. The resulting battle is GLORIOUS, with the two beating the ever-loving hell out of each other with beams, fists and teeth. Shinji loses, however when Godzilla breaks his back. Yet despite his grievous injuries after the fight, Shinji uses his remaining strength to get Asuka out of the mauled Unit 01. You are a brave kid Shinji.
- A combination of this and Tear Jerker: Steve Martin died as he lived: reporting news even in the face of danger. One of the chapter prefaces is a transcript of his famous last words (which are similar to his signing off in Godzilla: King of the Monsters as Godzilla approaches the building he's in to destroy it) as a tsunami caused by Second Impact comes bearing on his position.
