Awesome / Letters From Cicely

Go To

  • The stern letter that Holling and Joel compose to warn off a conman who is trying to sue Holling is surprisingly eloquent on Holling's part and surprisingly forceful on Joel's.
  • There are several related to the town's production of Guys and Dolls.
    • During a rehearsal, Ed (who has been getting more fed up with Maurice's occasional. Mean Boss moments due to the sunspot activity) asks if his character Nicely-Nicely Johnson is supposed to be Nathan Detroit’s friend or employee and gives Maurice a pointed look and says “that sounds nice” after being told that Nicely-Nicely is an employee who is friendly with his boss.
    • Shelly, The Ditz, Fauxlosophic Narration-prone Chris, and rigid state trooper Barbara (albeit more with her singing voice than her acting skills) give the best performances in the play (and not just in a Damned by Faint Praise way).
    • As the insomnia spell ends and people keep falling asleep during the play, the cast works hard to get through it while they and the audience are still awake, with Ed performing a "heartwarming rendition" of "Sit Down You're Rocking the Boat" even when almost no one is left awake to watch it besides visitors from out of town, while Marilyn plays a beautiful accompaniment, and both of them immediately pass out as soon as they get through that.
  • The group dream everyone has at the end where a judge declares each of them an individual not defined or controlled by science.
