Awesome / Joseph: King of Dreams

Go To

  • While a servant of Potiphar, Joseph notices the horse merchant swindling his master for more gold. He even tests the scales weighing the coins, and finds it's been 'broken' to cheat customers out of their money.
    • Potiphar showing the conning horse merchant that although everyone makes mistakes, "[his] will cost [him] [his] freedom". It's the wish-fulfillment of anyone who has been scammed.
    • When Potiphar's wife suggests he keep the horse since, as Potiphar himself noted, it was the "finest horse in all of Egypt", Potiphar says that he would not take a thief's horse for the sake of his honor. It shows Potiphar is a man who values integrity, and it's why he quickly befriends Joseph.

  • Joseph has his brothers in a vulnerable position. He made them bring out Benjamin to Egypt on the threat of imprisoning Simeon indefinitely and knows that they lied about his death to his parents. He also learns that Rachel died. He could frame any or all of them for theft and imprison them, or even make up more trumped-up charges to give them a taste of what his life was like. Instead, he frames Benjamin for theft and challenges the others to defend him. Joseph subtly asks if they even cared that he was beaten up or locked up while enslaved. He also shows how he's better than his brothers, by actually refusing to go through the deed. From his expression, Joseph was never going to enslave Benjamin.
