Awesome / Bush Whacked

• Max. Despite all the trouble he goes through in this film, he still manages to get his happy ending .

• Four words—“I’m Milton Fishman superstud!”
  • To reiterate, Max, who is clearly not good with kids, helped a child conquer his fear. And with something he made up on the spot, no less!

• Most of the kids get their moments of awesome throughout the film.
  • For Milton Fishman, he, as stated above, overcomes his fear of heights.
  • For Dana, it’s helping pull Max as well as the rest of his troop out of a raging river.
  • For Barnhill, using his knowledge of mountain climbing to help the group over their final hurdle .
  • For Gordy, nearly diving in front of a bullet to protect his mother and Max .

• After Gordy vanishes over the balcony ledge and is presumed dead , all his mother and Max can do is scream his name in absolute horror. Then, Max notices Bragdon sneaking off, and without even hesitating, he charges after the creep, tackles him down the stairs and pins him down on his back. The look on Bragdon’s face is justified terror. This is the first and only time in the movie where Max gets physical too!
  • To add, he calls Gordy ”one of my kids”.

• Moments after this, Max and Gordy’s mother hear Gordy calling for help somewhere below the balcony, having somehow survived the horrific fall down there . Max, after making his way back to the railing, immediately begins climbing down to rescue him . Keep in mind, Gordy isn’t even his child.
