    The Psychology of the Nightmares
  • Lori: Lori's nightmare mostly seemed to stem from a worry about being unneeded, as evidenced by her siblings saying, "We don't need you". Perhaps also from a fear of being patronised/disrespected, which is where the shrinking and not being in charged come from.
  • Leni: Leni's nightmare is pretty straightforward; it stemmed from her arachnophobia and aversion to leg warmers.
  • Luna: Luna's nightmare may have come from a fear of never becoming successful, which she has in "Roadie to Nowhere", since that seemed to be what Mick Swagger and the old lady were mainly saying. It may have been partially influenced by a worry that Sam will reject her (e.g. the old lady claiming that Sam "prefers blokes") and/or a fear of betrayal (her idol appeared to be honouring her, but instead he was "taking the piss").
  • Luan: Luan's nightmare is an interesting case. It could be due to a fear of being unpopular, as evidenced by no one laughing at her jokes and Mr. Coconuts teasing her for not being funny. However, having the audience turn out to be statues and her crying, "I don't want to be alone" suggests that it's related to loneliness. Perhaps it's a combination of loneliness and fear of unpopularity, so maybe her friends were absent from school and she bombed at a comedy club the day before?
  • Lynn: Lynn accidentally decapitating Lincoln in her nightmare may spring from a fear of accidentally injuring or killing her siblings with her rough play. Additionally, the journalist's line about "Is winning all she cares about?" might mean she's also afraid people think of her as uncaring.
  • Lucy: Part of Lucy's nightmare may stem from her being uncomfortable with crowds of strangers, as demonstrated by her being described as an "introvert" and feeling too cramped in the crowd. It also may be because she doesn't want to conform, as most of what made it a nightmare was the dancers demanding she join them. There is also a bit of gross-out imagery, like her mishearing the lyrics as "moist and juicy", the fact that the dancers were sweaty, and the dancers vomiting on her. Perhaps Lucy is easily disgusted? Who knows.
  • Lana: Lana's nightmare mainly comes from being Afraid of Doctors, but perhaps she is also afraid that she will be made to conform to sexist standards because of her being transformed into a very stereotypical little girl. There might also be a "fear of betrayal" aspect in there too, since it was implied that Rita knew the evil doctor's intentions.
  • Lola: Perhaps Lola's nightmare comes from a fear of losing a beauty pageant or that she's not beautiful, though she seems very confident in the series, barring "Gown and Out" and even at the beginning of the nightmare. Maybe it instead comes from the idea of losing her beauty? It could also be from the idea of no longer being Lola Loud; for someone who has such high opinions of herself, that is a scary idea.
  • Lisa: Lisa dreamt she was sent back to daycare and treated like a baby, so her nightmare probably comes from a fear of being patronised.
  • Lily: Lily's nightmare involved a monster named "Mor-Gaj" who her parents have to pay or else he will take the house. It's obvious that she heard her parents talking about mortgages and didn't understand what that meant. Maybe she thought mortgages were a monster because her parents seemed nervous of them.
  • Lincoln: Lincoln dreams that his sisters are replaced by demon-type creatures who call them bad. Also in the nightmare, the sisters themselves are in poor physical condition. Perhaps, this nightmare is caused by a fear of something bad happening to his sisters and/or a fear of other people misjudging his family. Also, this fanfiction shares an author with Peeking Through the Fourth Wall, so maybe he got the idea that people would mistake his sisters as abusive from reading fanfics like One Angry Person? Then again, he watches horror movies and gets scared of them on a semi-regular basis, so maybe the nightmare just came from a movie.
