Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 and 5-7 tackle all eight movies. While they follow the movies closely, if you really play through the game, storyline-wise, it's pretty bare boned. There were plenty of scenes that were taken out from the movies, similar to how the movies took out parts from the books.

    open/close all folders

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
  • The Dursleys don't go to the zoo. Instead, Harry's acceptance letter arrives while he's serving breakfast.
  • While the trio's witness of Hagrid's pet dragon does happen, it's through a flashback via Time Turner that can't be accessed until (the very end of) year 3.
  • The year ends with Harry winking at the screen. No end of term feast nor Harry saying goodbye to Hagrid is shown.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  • When Harry and Ron crash land to Hogwarts, they don't get caught, meaning Harry doesn't have to serve detention with Gilderoy Lockhart and Ron doesn't receive a howler.
  • Harry doesn't visit Dumbledore in his office.
  • In the books and movies, by the end of the year, students were to be escorted to their dorms and classrooms because the Basilisk was loose. Here, nobody seems to care or even notice, as if a Basilisk slithering about was simply Tuesday at Hogwarts.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  • Sirius does not break into Hogwarts to slash the painting of the Fat Lady.
  • There's no Quidditch match against Hufflepuff.
  • Snape is not involved in the Shrieking Shack incident and his role trying to protect the kids from Werewolf Lupin is taken over by Sirius instead.
  • Averted with the security trolls, who blocked certain doors at Hogwarts. While they were in the books, they weren’t in the movies.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
  • Frank Bryce, the gardener of the Riddle House who is killed by Voldemort after he eavesdrops on a conversation between him and Pettigrew and is forced into the room and killed when Nagini alerts the two to his presence, does not appear, and is replaced by a Muggle milkman.
  • We don't get to see the Quidditch World Cup. Just the group hanging out in the tent, until the Death Eaters show up. Granted, that was mostly the case in the movie as well.
  • Unlike the movies and books, Rita Skeeter doesn't really do much in terms of journalism, expect run up to the trio and well... not really do much. The scene of her taking a picture of Harry and Hermione hugging and spinning it as a "young love story" is instead used as an excuse to drag Hermione to the first test arena with Harry (so the player 2 has a character to use in that level).
  • The Yule Ball is absent, but you can purchase outfits for certain characters. This is arguably the biggest scene that's been cut out.
  • Anything between the 2nd and 3rd tasks are not shown since the story goes to the Maze Task immediately after finishing the Lake Task.
  • Cho Chang is missing from the story completely as well as Harry's infatuation with her and his annoyance at Cedric taking her to the Yule Ball. She's only referenced by the fact that you can find her character token in the Owlery (where she and Harry will share their first kiss next year).

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  • Harry, Ron, and Hermione go to the King's Cross themselves. The Order of the Phoenix doesn't escort them.
  • Other than altering the DADA books, banning certain spells (most you didn't know anyway), and separating a couple making out, Professor Umbridge doesn't really do much in terms of restrictions. We don't get to see Harry in detention nor her trying to fire Professor Trelawney.
  • Marietta Edgecombe still appears in the game, but like the movie, her role is taken over by her friend Cho.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  • Dumbledore and Slughorn skip the Weasley's house and drop Harry off at Diagon Alley instead.
  • Both the tryouts and Ron's Quidditch game are not shown. The closest we get is Harry and Ron flying through an empty Quidditch Pitch, but even then, that can't be unlocked until year 7 part 2.
  • We don’t see Katie Bell get cursed by the Opal Necklace.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1
  • We don't see Voldemort's meeting at the Malfoy Manor.
  • George's injury and Mad-Eye Moody's death are never brought up.
  • The trio goes right from the restaurant to the Ministry of Magic, skipping their stay at 12 Grimmauld Place. This is mitigated by the trio seeing a photograph of Umbridge wearing the locket in the Daily Prophet while waiting for their coffee.
  • When they reach the forest, Harry and Hermione then go right to Godric's Hallow, not bothering to look anywhere else first or even argue with Ron.
  • Averted with Hogwarts during this year. In this game, we get to play as Ginny, Neville, and Seamus in Hogwarts. You can go there via Marauder's Map and back through a wanted poster of Harry. Hogwarts during the 1997-1998 school year is about as dark and uninviting as you'd expect it to be. There isn’t much to do except have Neville attend Divination.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
  • We don't see the trio's interaction with Ollivander at Shell Cottage.
  • While Ron's "Dragomir Despard" disguise is unlockable, the actual cutscenes just have him wear groucho glasses to Gringotts.
  • We don't see Narcissa Malfoy lying to Voldemort about Harry being dead, as when he wakes up he's already being carried back to Hogwarts.
  • In the Hub World, the Battle of Hogwarts is pretty underwhelming. It only goes on outside, and even then it's mostly just several Death Eaters popping out here and there. Other than a few broken windows and Ravenclaw's entrance, there's little to no damage done. Even the music, while eerie, is still calm.
