PP Chapter 8: When Fanfic Writers Use A Thesaurus But Not A Dictionary

Written By: Ebony
POV: Third person

A word about this chapter. The author at the behest of inscrutable motivations, utilized verbiage beyond her ken in this installment of her work chronicling the endeavors of zealously pious equines, which now describes the tribulations of the incarcerated Spike and Fluttershy.

A furious Spike complains about being thrown in jail, since he hates small spaces, and he blames Fluttershy for this predicament. It seems that since the end of the K2 climb, he's become the temperamental one of the group.

That said, Fluttershy is under a great deal of stress, and she scolds him to "be inobtrusive". She's in full "exasperated parent" mode, and considers striking him, but decides that would be un-Christian of her (as far as I know, she never did anything like this in canon, not even to Angel Bunny, the problem child of her animals). She calms down a little, and says that since the sentries are not "pleasant or affable", and will likely paddle prisoners who make too much noise.

Fluttershy recalls when Applejack called the police. Fluttershy thought the other pony was only bluffing until she actually picked up the phone, at which point it was too late; the police arrived in about a minute, since Ponyville wasn't a large city. Fluttershy surrendered peacefully, but Spike protested, and ended up setting Applejack and Rainbow Dash's house on fire. He only succeeded in getting arson added to the list of charges, putting them at risk of exile, even if they are not going to be sentenced to "the bereavement verdict."

Fluttershy, already a zealous and smug Christian no more than a few days after converting, is confident that her enemies will get their comeuppance on Judgment Day. Meanwhile, Spike is impatient, since Twilight isn't there with the bail yet, since Twilight is determined to solve whatever problems she's faced with even if Celestia is determined to make things difficult for Spike and Fluttershy to get out of jail. Spike begins pacing back and forth, getting agitated once again, until Fluttershy calms him down.

Twilight then arrives, with the bail money that she "plagiarized" (a mortal sin for fanfic writers, and one of the few sins the authors of the series haven't committed) from the church endowment, but will replace it through donations. She informs them that Rainbow Dash and Applejack are getting married, and they begin to panic in spite of knowing this already, until Spike, once again the calm one of the two, calms Fluttershy by insisting that they stop it.

They hail a cab and go to the garden where Applejack and Fluttershy are married, with the narration saying that marriages should only take place at a church; keep the location in mind for later. They get there in time for the person in charge of the ceremony (who is apparently not an "ecclesiastic" or priest) to say the "speak now or forever hold your peace" bit, and Fluttershy stands her ground against a furious Applejack. Applejack begins to protest, until God strikes Rainbow Dash down with a heart spasm, and Rainbow Dash screams that they will never get away with this.

The author says she hopes we enjoyed this, and there will be two more chapters before the "epic conclusion," although only one is up as of this writing, and then will focus on her other fanfics.

Next Installment: After an unlikely conclusion to the wedding, the Prayer Ponies are forced to deal with Celestia.
