TEG 2 Chaper 7: When Hemlock Seems Like A Pleasant Alternativ

Written By: Thomas
Proofread By: Ebony
POV: Third person
Deaths: Socrates(1)

Jesus believes that the chapter will be better than those that came before it, since more evildoers will be punished. Paul agrees, going so far as to expect that it will be the best in the entire series, a belief Jesus hopes the readers will share. Peter promises to give good reviews. Thomas asks for a new proofreader to replace Ebony, who's going to camp.

The chapter title says "We Kill Socrates", spoiling the (albeit essentially inevitable) outcome.

The Prayer Warriors, after the mission to the abortion clinic, wait at Ebony's house. Ebony says the time has come to punish the evil demon for "blush-phony," lest they be held accountable as well. Jason is confident he can deal with Socrates, but isn't as sure about Thalia, and Ebony recommends leaving her behind. Jason agrees, saying that she's not a good fighter, evidently forgetting that she fought against the vampires.

Jason drives the drivers license-less Ebony to her cousin's house and Socrates. Socrates taunts them, saying that they can never defeat them because he's a god, even if he's their prisoner, and should presumably be tied up or chained, thereby being helpless. But even if he has powers that enable him to defend himself despite being restrained, Jason proceeds to disabuse him of the notion by grabbing him and pouring napalm down his throat. As Socrates screams in pain, Jason concludes that if he were a god, he wouldn't be suffering, and then leaves him to have a long and painful death.

Jason heads outside and finds out that Ebony wasn't just sitting around, but somehow captured one of Socrates' followers. I wonder how she randomly managed to find one; perhaps the follower was attempting a rescue. The follower pleads, "Kill me! Make my life end!" but Jason refuses, because he says it's a sin (mere seconds after killing Socrates) and decides to make her his slave after punishing her.

Ebony gets a phone call that forces her out of retirement; the other Kansas City is under attack by a demon army.

Jesus says the chapter was better, and Thomas is open to reviews as long as they're not bad ones.
