TEG 2 Chapter 1: Second Verse, Same As The First

Written By: Thomas
Proofread By: Ebony
POV: Third person

Now, we're on to The Evil Gods 2. Before we begin, I have an announcement. At the moment, I am unable to find anything past Chapter 15 of this story. If anyone's reading this and knows where I can find the original fic, I'd appreciate if you could tell me.

The fic begins with Thomas and Ebony. Thomas says that he's writing this with Ebony, and that Noah went to live with one of Thomas' "godless" uncles. He's fairly confident that there will be no spelling mistakes, and Ebony explains why; she claims that Noah let mistakes go through, and says this is cruel because Thomas is dyslexic. Thomas thanks Ebony for her explanation, and summarizes the Prayer Warriors' efforts against the Greek Gods, Hogwarts and the Communists. This story begins at some point after John Lennon's assassination.

A rhyming prayer begins the chapter. The rhymes aren't particularly inspired ("in/sin," "saviour/favor" "day/way"), but they're serviceable, and the author is better at them than he is at writing in Latin.

The chapter is titled, "Jason Converts To Christianity." Not only does it give away what happens in the chapter, but it's particularly confusing, at that, since at this point, we don't know who Jason is...

...and apparently, neither does Jason himself, as he wakes up outside "Camp Christ's Blood" (apparently renamed after the kids killed their masters) with a strange coin in his hand. Annabeth greets him, and tells him a little about the camp, introduces herself and says she has a boyfriend, who disappeared. For the latter, she asks Jason for help, but he didn't see anyone come by him.

Jason gets a basic explanation of Christianity from Annabeth, and, having an open mind (and no knowledge of what happened to everyone who refused to convert), enthusiastically accepts. Annabeth is pleased, but says that baptizing is for men, and so gets Leo, a male Prayer Warrior, to do it.

Jason eagerly goes to camp to learn about Jesus, but encounters a "false prophet" on the way. For some reason, despite preaching against God in the vicinity of the Prayer Warriors' main headquarters, the Prayer Warriors can't kill him, and decide to consider him a test of their faith.

The false prophet makes his pronouncement, which the author reassures us isn't scary; in fact, he politely assures those who listen that he's not here to harm them and wants the freedom to worship the Roman gods. Annabeth, however, claims that he's lying, and only wants to send people to hell, which she believes no one except satanic scum like him deserves. She says there's no benefit to worshipping Satan, which makes me wonder why he gets all those followers.

Annabeth shows Jason the church, which Jerry and Percy built with their own hands. There are paintings of scenes such as the crucifixion, the birth of Jesus and Moses leading the slaves out of Egypt, the latter of which reminds Jason of something about himself. Someone screams in pain, and it turns out that Grover has been possessed by demons (again).

Thomas teases us with the question of how the Prayer Warriors will deal with this problem and their larger war against the Roman gods, and Ebony promises more action.

Next Installment: The Prayer Warriors try to save Grover- the key word being try.
