Chapter 10: All You Needed To Do Was Ask

Written By: Thomas
POV: Percy

BIC starts the chapter complaining about people not liking the story, saying that they're beyond redemption because of their belief in evolution. He says that only people who will not say anything bad about the story can review it, and expresses his disgust over gays, women in power or people "crippled in the minds."

The chapter begins in Percy's POV, the first time in which someone other than Jerry gets a first person POV. He's so overwhelmed with guilt over his past misdeeds (which we never get to see), that he whips himself and is contemplating suicide, but for the fact that suicide is a sin. Jerry tells him to follow the Bible and convert his surviving friends. Considering how many of them Jerry has killed so far, one has to wonder whether Percy feels at all bitter or sad, or if he's bought into the idea that they're evil.

Percy first approaches Rachel, whom he claims to have dated on and off for years, with an angry parenthetical note about how he had sex with her before, but that's in the past; it seems he's already taking after Jerry somewhat in that regard. He claims that Rachel was a Christian before she got her involved with the Greek gods, and nicely asks her to convert. She complies, possibly showing how a little bit of politeness goes a long way, and immediately decides to become the submissive woman the Prayer Warriors want her to be.

Percy baptizes the rest of her family, and declares that unless Camp Half-blood converts to Christianity, it will suffer the same fate as Sodom and Gomorrah.

Next Installment: While the Prayer Warriors are making progress against the Evil Gods, another front opens up on the war.
