Legion has managed to locate the source of the Reaper signal. Unfortunately, it is surrounded by jamming towers, which make an orbital strike impossible. Luckily, Fail Shep can go on foot and use a targeting laser to cut through the jamming so the Normandy can bomb the signal source. Raan wants Fail Shep to help stop a squad of geth fighters that are targeting the Civilian Fleet, but Fail Shep wants to get back to fighting Reapers already and goes forward with the final assault.

While on the Kodiak, Legion admits that it has been upgraded with the Reaper code the geth are infected with. Legion isn't under geth control, but the code is turning it into a full-fledged AI.

The land battle goes smoothly. The only real obstacle is a blast door the geth place over the signal source.

The space battle goes far less smoothly. The fighter wing Fail Shep ignored slaughters a good portion of the Civilian Fleet. Without Admiral Koris to lead them, the Civilian Fleet takes even more casualties.

Fail Shep opens the blast door and uses the targeting laser. The Normandy bombs the signal source, but it doesn't work because the signal is coming from a Destroyer-class Reaper.

The squad hauls ass and escapes on a vehicle Legion procured. They run away until the Migrant Fleet stuns the Reaper with a blind orbital strike. Fail Shep decides to get off the vehicle and fight the Reaper on foot, a process that consists of dodging the Reaper's laser while using the targeting laser so the Migrant Fleet can hit the Reaper's weak point For Massive Damage.

After the quarians bombard the crap out of the Reaper, it finally falls. The dying Reaper blathers on about how they are trying to save organics by bringing order to chaos. Fail Shep shuts the Reaper up for good with another orbital strike. Without the Reaper signal, the geth shut down. Admiral Raan arrives shortly after: her ship crashed offscreen. Now all that's left is to decide what to do with the geth.

Admiral Gerrel will not back down from committing genocide. To stop him, Legion plans on uploading its version of the Reaper code to the rest of the geth, which will make them as smart and powerful as they were when they were under Reaper control, while also allowing them to retain free will. Of course, the geth will use this new power to destroy the quarians. Raan wants Fail Shep to stop Legion from uploading to code, whereupon the geth will remain defenseless against the quarians. Fail Shep has to choose between which species he will allow to become the victim of genocide.

He chooses to save the geth.

Legion dies for reasons that I've never quite been able to understand. The Migrant Fleet is overwhelmed by the geth. To his credit, Gerrel refuses to abandon his post, even when his bridge is in flames. Raan shoots herself in a rather Narmy scene.

By the way, every non-exiled quarian was ordered to return to the Mirgant Fleet prior to the invasion of Rannoch. Given that exile is a rare punishment, the quarians are either extinct or soon to be extinct.

The geth agree to lend their support to the Crucible and to helping humanity retake Earth.

Legion doesn't get a second plaque on the Memorial Wall. Which makes sense, since Legion 2.0 was kind of a dick.

Acts of Genocide Committed:

  • Killed the last Rachni Queen.
  • Destroyed the Geth Heretics.

And there goes another important mission in which you have to choose between one of two sides. Perhaps this choice was not as meaningful as Tuchanka, since neither Tali nor the nice Legion had to be sacrificed (due to dying much earlier), but going through with a second act of genocide in one game can still be slightly troubling.

Best of luck in the missions to come! Or worst of luck, depending on your point of view. I've said that in a lot of comments so far, haven't I?

On the one hand, I think you can sabotage the quarians for a greater EMS penalty.

On the other, you're aiming for as much death and pain and suffering, and honestly, given the worst ending, the quarians probably have the best chance of surviving the incoming apocalypse, so making sure they're dead assures that the most number of sentient beings suffer.

There's going to be another delay. The bomb hasn't gone off yet and I'm running out of missions, so I'm going to have to go back a few missions and see if doing the first bomb mission is what triggers the countdown to massive EMS loss.

I'm now certain that Legion's return was a bug and it was actually supposed to be the Geth VI, which the game gave Legion's name and appearance for some reason.
