* CompleteMonster: Blackwolf is an EvilSorcerer who fancies himself to be the next AdolfHitler. [[AftertheEnd Millions of years after the world is devastated by a nuclear war]], [[CainAndAbel Black Wolf and his brother Avatar]] are born in the kingdom of Montagar. After their mother dies, Blackwolf is overjoyed, seeing this as his chance to seize power. Avatar defeats Blackwolf in battle and banishes him. Blackwolf moves to the kingdom of Scortch, [[PollutedWasteland a radioactive waste land filled with mutants]] and [[EvilOverlord takes over]]. Blackwolf sends out assassins to search the land and kill anyone who practices magic. Blackwolf also assassinates all the leaders of the free states so he can be a better position to strike. Blackwolf's mutant army is at first undisciplined and unmotivated and does not win battles. Blackwolf uses this projector to inspire his troops and bring fear and confusion to his enemies. Under the influence of propaganda, Blackwolf's troops often slaughter the opposing side. Blackwolf's troops seize a village and end up killing all the prisoners they capture, as well as blowing up a church. Blackwolf claims mutants are a MasterRace and wants to fight for their interests, but when [[StrawHypocrite he discovers his son will be a mutant]], [[OffingTheOffspring he plans on killing him]].

* CrowningMomentOfFunny: Several, once again mostly for the villians. '[[ComicBook/FritzTheCat They killed Fritz!]]' and the scene with the priests are probably the best, though.

* TearJerker: [[spoiler:Peace's death at the hands of a brainwashed Elinore]]

* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: The ''villians'' get several, the most memorable being when they easily overrun a heavily fortified elven defense line by using ''old World War II propaganda films'' to distract and disorient them. Especially priceless considering how confident the defenders were just seconds previously.
** Avatar gets one when, after swearing not to fight back, he is shot in the shoulder with [[AnnoyingArrows an arrow]]. He proceeds to ''nonchalantly shrug it off and carry on as normal'', despite it having penetrated at least a couple of inches. This is actually what [[spoiler:finally convinces the fairies to aid him]].
** The fight sequences.
** [[spoiler:Peace's death]] comes right in the middle of his own CMOA - when he rushes a ''tank'' by himself, on foot, and nearly beats it before [[spoiler:Elinore literally stabs him in the back]].
*** Peace gets a retroactive one when Avatar reveals that he's been constantly fighting against Blackwolf's influence the entire time. Even when he manages to find his gun again, and is given multiple chances to empty a magazine into the group, he never once thinks of doing it. [[spoiler: Elinore even compliments his resolve once it's revealed she was brainwashed into killing him.]]
** In a way, the priests' prayer. Aside from being hilarious, it's also pretty obvious that they're just trolling the soldiers for all they're worth. Too bad it doesn't end so well...

* [[WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids What Do You Mean, It's A Family Picture?]]: Despite the copious amounts of violence and the well-endowed Eleanor is what looks like a Vegas showgirl outfit, Bakshi insists that yes, this is meant for kids.

* WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs: The last big battle scene. Think about it: Mutant and Demon Nazis fighting war-harded Elves and Fairies set on a crazy rotoscoped background, and all the while set to ''jazz rock''. This movie is ''incredibly'' 70's.

* DesignatedHero / DesignatedVillain: Honestly, if not for the whole 'Nazi imagery' thing, it would be hard to know who to root for. However, the film assigned the roles of 'hero' and 'villain' to [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Avatar]] and [[EvilCounterpart Blackwolf]], respectively.
** Considering [[BlackAndGreyMorality Bakshi's actual beliefs]], probably very intentional.
* {{Narm}}: "Traitor" or "turncoat" are probably better things to call someone who's betrayed you, but for some reason, Weehawk prefers the term ''"SLUT!"''
* SpecialEffectsFailure: Ralph Bakshi deserves all the slack we can possibly cut him for making a feature-length animated film on what most movies spend on catering alone, but still: rotoscoped WWII footage of soldiers with drawn-on devil horns simply does ''not'' a convincing mutant army make.
