* NarmCharm: Even though the series is extremely silly on purpose, there are moments that can get surprisingly emotional. [[spoiler:The Two Faced and Walrus montage]] in Episode 37 is a good example; even though Vinny laughs at how over-the-top it is, it still leaves him feeling pretty sad for [[spoiler:Walrus]].

** Vlinny, after Episode 54. If one of those things doesn't apply, chances are he's your most hated islander.

** Puns on "Jahn". [[Wrestling/JohnCena "Jahn Cena"]] is an especially popular one, mainly because of Cena being a FountainOfMemes.
** "[[{{Mondegreen}} Kappa?]]"[[labelnote:Explanation]]Cling On gets "Qapla" (Klingon for "success") as a happy phrase in episode 52, but the text-to-speech program makes it sound like "Kappa" (a much-reviled Website/{{Twitch}} emoticon) instead. * FridgeBrilliance: The complete lack of votes for Music/RingoStarr in the Judgment Bay poll about Music/TheBeatles seems like a typical case of Ringo being ignored in favor of the other three, but a different poll in the same session revealed that the islanders preferred Satan over Jesus. As it turns out, Ringo says "Peace and love" quite often in real life, with peace and love being concepts Satan is opposed to.

** Any of the Music/DavidBowie-related jokes could have potentially become less funny after the real David Bowie's death, which happened about a year and a half after the first ''Tomodachi Life'' stream. The joke hit by this the hardest was from something outside the series. During Vinny's ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBrosX'' contest in 2015, one of the levels he played was "[[https://youtu.be/kwMyES61l1M?t=19m28s Touched by a Sponge]]", a story-based level about Sponge's life. At the end of the level, [[spoiler:Sponge discovers that Bowie (alongside Vinesauce) was killed by the Jahns, and is DrivenToSuicide]]. Back then? BlackComedy. Now? Dark foreshadowing. The eeriest part? That level was the 56th level Vinny played; Episode 56 was the episode the island's David Bowie got released.

** In Episode 2, Vinny comments that he doesn't like Ben and wonders whether he should evict him. [[spoiler:He ended up being spared by the "Great Meme Purge" and was never voted off during the ''Survivor Edition''.]]

** In Episode 10, Vinny shows the viewers a picture of the [[http://www.yelp.com/biz/clown-motel-tonopah?utm_campaign=yelp_api&utm_medium=api_v2_business&utm_source=dWJMtmYxpd5N5yoyzSuhtA Clown Motel]] in Tonopah, Nevada, which was built right next to a graveyard, saying that it was where famous clowns are buried when they die.[[note]]It's actually the resting place of people who died of various causes, such as mine fire victims. That didn't stop one reviewer on the linked Yelp page from joking that some of the people who were buried there were killed by clowns, though.[[/note]] This was quite a while before Clown was discovered to be a ghost by Vinny.

** The idea of Clown being a ghost is often mis-attributed to TV Tropes. It actually comes from a comment made by Vinny after Clown phased through Clown Lady, likely due to a glitch, some time after his rainy street apartment was replaced with one that looked like a FluffyCloudHeaven.

* BaseBreaker:

** During episodes 48-49, [[spoiler:Vinny began replacing islanders with Jahns, among other odd things]], causing a very dramatic shift in the otherwise silly playthrough. Some fans enjoy this recent string of events, as most of them believed that ''Tomodachi Life'' was getting a tad bit uneventful in the past few streams. However, some fans particularly enjoyed the ''Tomodachi Life'' playthrough just to see what happens in the islanders' daily lives, causing them to be generally unamused by [[spoiler:the Jahn invasion, which is removing some of their favorite islanders]]. Episode 50 helped resolve this a bit, but the effects will probably last even after the finale.

** For a long time, Two Faced was the most popular of the islanders, receiving tons of fan art (including ones containing {{Fanservice}}, as Cling On later came to be known for to a greater extent). This died down once [[spoiler:she abruptly left Walrus for Donkey Kong]], and presently Cling On has taken her place (partially due to the efforts of self-admitted fanboy Captain Southbird, who makes condensed versions of the ''Tomodachi'' streams). [[spoiler:Cling On eventually started dating Vinesauce (which Vinny didn't veto, in contrast to Alpaca) and managed to get second on the popularity poll in Episode 55, cementing her as this.]]

** And of course, there's [[PerpetualFrowner Sponge]], who is so popular that he gets a plethora of fan art and even his own fan game. [[spoiler:He scored first place on the final poll in Episode 55, and by a large margin to boot.]]

** Vlinny's popularity skyrocketed during Episode 54, for several reasons: Getting to go to space in an extremely awesome moment, [[spoiler:schooling Two Faced and ''Vinny himself'' in Smash]], and winning several rap battles. He's also TheScrappy to many because of that episode, but there's no denying that it gave him a lot of attention. Overall, the fans adore him, and [[spoiler:he got fourth place on the popularity poll in Episode 55]].

** Virtually every character is susceptible to this, since [[UnreliableNarrator Vinny oftentimes can't be trusted]] (e.g. [[spoiler:claiming to have not sabotaged Vinesauce and Two Faced's proposals]]). Whether any given character is "good" or "bad" is generally left up to the viewers, since all we have is his word (Vlinny being the main target of this, especially since [[spoiler:Vineschnoz ended up being more of an EvilKnockoff]]). Not helping is that, since Vinny almost always enters [[VideoGamePerversityPotential bizarre and sexual]] things into Quirky Questions, almost every islander can be counted as a CovertPervert (if not an ''outright'' pervert).

* ArchivePanic: By the time the ''Survivor Edition'' is wrapped up (marking the series' "end"), it has gone on for more episodes than ''Series/StarTrekTheOriginalSeries'', and is by far Vinny's most streamed game. Vinny estimates the final total to be at least 70-90 hours long, which is an overestimate due to a few extremely short "check-up" episodes, but the series still takes more than two days to watch fully. Even if condensed, it'll take more than half a day. Not bad for a Web series of a game that is widely considered to fall into ItsShortSoItSucks. (Vinny himself eventually remarks that "if you have 100 hours to kill...")

Does she deserve to be voted off in the ''Survivor Edition''? One side wants her gone because she's still acting like a jerk to others (and to properly apply karma for when [[spoiler:she cheated on Walrus]]), while the other side thinks she's still more interesting than many other islanders (her being there since the first stream helps) and doesn't need to go this early in (and also point out that Vinny wants people to place their votes based on ''Survivor Edition'' events only). [[spoiler:Episode 53 complicates things more, as Two Faced was almost voted off, but Vinny intervened to make things fair, making her on ''extremely'' thin ice... and then she's evicted in the next episode, due to a few factors like Vlinny being given an advantage due to voting and Vinny MovingTheGoalposts. Suffice to say, whether you're a Two Faced fan or not greatly influences your opinion on this.]]

** Vlinny, after Episode 54. ** Episodes 48-49 see a shift from the standard formula to become [[spoiler:a horror-focused AlienInvasion story, complete with Vinny slowly going mad. Considering the arc started on AprilFoolsDay, it could easily be confused for a joke initially]].

** "Balegdah" was originally said by Jesy Nelson of Music/LittleMix. The Mii's name ignores this and is simply called either Boleg Da or Balegdah.

** Cling On was made by Regaulity, a Vinesauce regular and infamous troll. This is why Cling On looks nothing like a Klingon and has her trademark voice; her main purpose was to tick Vinny off. Then Southbird discovered her, and the rest is history.

** Pretzel wasn't necessarily created to be hated, but Vinny still thought of him as a OverusedCopycatCharacter. Once he got his personality and his stupid voice (the latter of which Sponge, the original Bootleg Mario Brother, ''never got''), he became significantly more liked.

* ShockingElimination: [[spoiler:''Inverted'' in episode 53, when Vinny ''saves'' Two Faced from elimination -- though he makes it clear that she'll be gone next episode if no one else gets more votes than her. Then it gets played straight when she gets eliminated the very next episode, albeit not by votes.]]
* SignatureSong: "Right Em' in the Wrong Hole" and "Dragon's Dilda" are probably the most well-known songs made in the game, but "The Ballad of Sponge" is considered the best by far (to the point where Vinny declares that "it wouldn't be a ''Tomodachi'' revisit stream without [replaying it]").

* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: ''Tomodachi Life'' is a simple kids game about watching over an island of quirky characters. It's being played by an adult known for reveling in VulgarHumor and [[CrossesTheLineTwice jumping back and forth across the line]]. The result is the game being filled with masturbation jokes and [[GettingCrapPastTheRadar attempted]] cursing. Even without Vinny's influence, the game ends up showing a lot more dysfunction than the average ''Tomodachi Life'' playthrough, and not just on a dramatic level.

** Alpaca easily counts. She's rejected by everyone she has feelings for and once had a Girl Charm rating of ''-26''. Eventually, she finds her true love: [[spoiler:''Vinny himself''. Or rather, his Mii.]] Vinny was not pleased. But then [[spoiler:Walrus set her up with [=BonziBUDDY=] and the two ended up getting married even more quickly than Groose and Lambchop. [[YankTheDogsChain But then [=BonziBUDDY=] was diagnosed with Not Funny....]]]]
** Special mention goes to Walrus, who was nothing but friendly to Vinny (even devoted to him, as shown in a Quirky Questions round), but kept getting tortured. Really comes to a head when [[spoiler: Two Faced dumps him, and even Vinny starts to feel bad]].

** This is actually the second time Vinny's named a location "Vineland"; the first time was for his town in ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossing: New Leaf''. His streams of that game started before the Full Sauce channel, meaning that they've generally been lost to time and are only watchable due to a fan saving them, though post-Full Sauce streams of that game are available and one older episode appeared as a [=VineClassic=] in 2016.

** "Space Charity", a song celebrating Vinesauce succeeding in raising money for the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, became this when its singer (Music/DavidBowie) died of liver cancer in real life.

** Meta example: Vinny once mentioned how difficult and time-consuming it would be to shorten the streams. We would later find out that it was actually done... by someone who spent considerably more time and effort reverse engineering ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBros3''.

** On the old Vinesauce forum, user [=TitaTitanium=] made a post in January joking that the end of the series would involve [[spoiler:"some kind of climax involving an influx of horrible, similar-looking creatures invading the island"]]. Later that year, [[spoiler:the Jahn invasion happened]].

* SignatureSong: "Right 'Em in the Wrong Hole" and "Dragon's Dilda" are probably the most well-known songs made in the game, but "The Ballad of Sponge" is considered the best by far (to the point where Vinny declares that "it wouldn't be a ''Tomodachi'' revisit stream without [replaying it]").

It's justified in one case, as [[spoiler:Wario's mind being messed with means that he probably forgot about Wii Fit Trainer (his girlfriend then), meaning her being murdered/evicted by Vinny in a fit of rage while he was gone doesn't really matter to him]].
*** In the ''Survivor Edition'', this extends to [[spoiler:DK and Gordon Ramsay, whom end up having their lovers eliminated, and don't react to it (though Gordon is depicted in fan art as being distraught over it). Vlinny manages to subvert this as much as he can, with a few signs pointing to him being aware of and upset by Dheerse's eviction]].

** Two Faced is easily the most divisive character in the series, ever since Episode 37. To a point where Vinny lampshades it in Episode 53, calling her the most beloved and hated islander.
*** How much of a jerk is she? Some fans think that she is a BitchInSheepsClothing, and deserves to be hated as much as she is. Others think that her [[spoiler:cheating on Walrus]] has become a bad case of NeverLiveItDown, and that her haters are starting to interpret everything she does as relating to her being a jerk. Then there are people who think she's mean, but like her anyways because she's interesting and influences the plot more than other islanders.

Episodes 8 and 9 are good indicators of this shift, as the former added the long-running issue of Walrus and Two Faced, while the latter started Alpaca's relationship issues. The [[spoiler:dimensional split]] in Episode 28 also had a lot to do with Vinny taking the series more seriously.

** In December 2015, during WebVideo/TheAngryVideoGameNerd's run of episodes on box art, there was an episode on the Atari 7800 game ''Scrapyard Dog'', with the Nerd laughing at and joking about the nose of the guy on the box. The guy on the box [[http://img1.game-oldies.com/sites/default/files/packshots/atari-7800/scrapyarddog-front.jpg looks somewhat like a short-haired Vineschnoz]].
*** On the same note, the protagonist of ''[[VideoGame/Action52 Ooze]]'' [[https://twitter.com/cptsouthbird/status/706711777518739457 resembles Broccoli]], right down to the signature punchable face.

*** Managed to be averted with the following episode. For various reasons (mainly the game running out of content), people thought the series was actually going to [[spoiler:end with [[TorchTheFranchiseAndRun everyone being assimilated and thus forcing an end to the series]]]]. Thus, many people were surprised when [[spoiler:Vinny actually ''didn't'' end the series harshly, and in fact made sure it was ready for future episodes if demand was high]].

* MemeticTroll: Waluigi gets this status once he [[spoiler:inadvertently ruins Vinesauce's attempt to propose Cling On.]] ([[Webcomic/BrawlInTheFamily "TOO BAD, WALUIGI TIME"]])

*** Related; fans are ''not'' going to let Two Faced forget that she [[spoiler:dumped Walrus for Donkey Kong]], as shown by votes during the ''Survivor Edition''. [[spoiler:It eventually does her in.]]

** For that matter, any boring islander with no quirks falls into this eventually. Little Mac is the prime culprit due to being around for so long, but others include [[spoiler:just about every assimilated islander that isn't Levi or Lolly]] and Pinkle.

[=3Mix=]'', thus at least making him more familiar to Southbird's viewers[[/note]] less are likely to recognize islanders like Alpaca[[note]]Vinny's Paca Plus playthrough predates The Full Sauce, though the streams have been uploaded there as [=VineClassics=][[/note]] or Balegdah[[note]]Balegdah is more closely associated with Darren than Vinny, due to the former's Balegdah video, and Darren isn't as well known as Vinny and generally doesn't archive his streams[[/note]], since the former came from pre-Full Sauce streams. The biggest culprit is Banana; while she seems like a standard food-based islander, she actually originated from a stream of ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hO5OtlQeYaY#t=490 Luigi X Waluigi]]'', a visual novel with a huge case of TranslationTrainWreck.[[note]]Luigi said "... Yeah, banana smile is also very suspicious ..." at one point. Waluigi's smile during that scene was very similar to the one Banana makes.[[/note]]

** Walrus is treated as a villain by Vinny, simply because he got together with Two Faced. [[spoiler:Fades away after he gets cheated on.]]

** Vlinny's popularity skyrocketed during Episode 54, for several reasons: Getting to go to space in an extremely awesome moment, [[spoiler:schooling Two Faced and ''Vinny himself'' in Smash]], and proving himself as an excellent rapper. He's also TheScrappy to many because of that episode, but there's no denying that it at least gave him a lot of attention. Overall, though, the fans adore him, and [[spoiler:he got fourth place on the popularity poll in Episode 55]].

** The Jahns were loved from the start due to their unique gag and providing several weird moments. This faded away after [[spoiler:the invasion]], but [[spoiler:Jahn #2/Lumber Jahn]] is still loved for being unique.

* FanficFuel: [[spoiler:What exactly happened in between episodes 49 and 50?]] The viewer gets very little information on it, so it's a source of speculation.
* FunnyAneurysmMoment:

** For quite a while, Vinny would convince almost every male islander to pursue Two Faced in their romantic quests, despite her being with Walrus; she would always reject them, but Vinny would keep sending people after her to break the two up. [[spoiler:This gag becomes a less funny after she actually goes along with Vinny's plot when DK asks her out.]]
** In Episode 46, Vinny [[spoiler:evicts Skelorita, forgets that she existed, and moves Pee-wee into her apartment]], a moment that is considered the highlight of the episode. In episode 49, [[spoiler:the exact same thing happens with Wii Fit Trainer and a Jahn, respectively; it's still a highlight, but [[NightmareFuel not for its humor]]]].

** In Episode 41, there is a fan comic with Skelorita expressing admiration for the Jahns and desires to be like them, and it's also present in the series proper. [[spoiler:She is speculated to have been a victim of the AssimilationPlot, either willingly or unwillingly.]]

** In Episode 2, Vinny comments that he doesn't like Ben and wonders whether he should evict him. [[spoiler:He ended up being spared by the "Great Meme Purge" and was never voted off during the Survivor Edition.]]

** There happens to be an decently large amount of irony earlier in the series after [[spoiler:Vinesauce and Cling On get in a relationship]]. Highlights include [[spoiler:Vinny's constant grumbling about Cling On's voice, him turning down an attempt by CD-i Link to introduce the two to each other, Cling On stating she can't stand Vinesauce at a Quirky Questions session, and Clown saying that he thinks the two look similar. (Note that Vinny didn't find out about Southbird's obsession with the character, let alone the fact that he was a Vinesauce fan, until a while after first playing [[VideoGame/SuperMarioBros3Mix his game]]. It was well after this that Vinny ended up being OK with his Mii dating her.)]]

** In Episode 28, Vinny mentions that Small Face has to eat small foods. It's pretty similar to the L'il Bits fake commercial in the ''WesternAnimation/RickAndMorty'' episode "Interdimensional Cable 2: Tempting Fate" that aired a year after the episode was streamed.

** Southbird's edit of episode 46 has a brief moment in which a caption {{lampshade|hanging}}s how ridiculously OutOfFocus Lolly is. ''The very next episode'' is her birthday, where she finally gets some attention.

* IKnewIt: Many fans believed that [[spoiler:Two Faced was a Jahn/Jehn]] because of their [[spoiler:facial structure resembling the Jahns' blank faces]]. Come episode 53, [[spoiler:Two Faced begins speaking in the Jahns' language, with Vinny openly questioning her on how she knows this]].

** Karl. In addition to the accidentally insensitive weirdness that comes with the character, he's become infamous on the island for being extremely LoveHungry. However, the fact that, not unlike his real-life counterpart, he's a ButtMonkey to ridiculous proportions (not only has he been rejected in increasingly embarrassing ways, but Vinny has fed him his worst ever food ''three times'') means that most fans still feel sympathy towards him.
** Groose, the other Sloppy Seconds Brother, gets this as well. There's no denying that he's desperate for love; however, not only is he less desperate than Karl, he also has more of an excuse, because [[spoiler:he lost his first love, Lamb Chop, partially from his own failures, but mainly because ''Vinny himself'' encouraged Lamb Chop to divorce him]]. Like Karl, he also gets no respect from the islanders or Vinny, and the one time he tried to save another's relationship ([[spoiler:Cling On and Small Face]]), he failed and then [[KickTheDog got torn apart by Vinny]].
** As of episode 53, ''Two Faced'' (of all people) is beginning to be seen as this, as [[spoiler: Vinny remarks that there's a 50/50 chance she'll die after he had to intervene in voting]]. [[http://vinesauce.booru.org/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=38157 Quite a bit]] [[http://vinesauce.booru.org/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=38160 of sad]] [[http://vinesauce.booru.org/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=38150 fan art]] was born from that moment. [[spoiler:And indeed, she gets eliminated the very next episode.]]

*** Managed to be averted with the following episode. For various reasons (mainly the game running out of content), many people thought the series was actually going to [[spoiler:end with [[TorchTheFranchiseAndRun everyone being assimilated and thus forcing an end to the series]]]]. Thus, many people were surprised when [[spoiler:Vinny actually ''didn't'' end the series harshly, and in fact made sure it was ready for future episodes if demand was high]].

** Vlinny has become this as of Episode 54. After all, someone who [[spoiler:manages to beat Two Faced and Vinny himself]] is certainly not a wimp.

** Puns relating to "Jahn". [[Wrestling/JohnCena "Jahn Cena"]] is an especially popular one, mainly because of Cena being a FountainOfMemes.
** "[[{{Mondegreen}} Kappa?]]"[[labelnote:Explanation]]Cling On gets "Qapla" (Klingon for "success") as a happy phrase in episode 52, but the text-to-speech program makes it sound like "Kappa" (a much-reviled Website/{{Twitch}} emoticon) instead. Vinny continuously defends this whenever fanart relating to the subject pops up.[[/labelnote]]

** Birdo gets a particular amount of hate, partially because she's {{Gonk}}, partially because she has a slow voice (a big pet peeve of many viewers) without any endearing vocal traits to make up for it (such as the somewhat similarly slow-speaking Cling On's trademark inflection), and partially because she doesn't have much going for her as a character. The fact that she was introduced alongside Peewee and Tucker, two unique islanders who at least have a presence, doesn't help much. Even Vinny hates her. [[spoiler:This all causes her to get eliminated in Episode 52, and unlike Dheerse, she got no memorial art.]]
** Broccoli was originally just a SitcomArchNemesis to Vinny. However, after a particularly blatant display of immaturity in Episode 52, many fans also hate him. [[spoiler:He doesn't last to see Episode 54 as a result.]]
** Little Mac, for being ''boring''. He just doesn't do anything of note in the entire series (the one time he almost does, [[spoiler:going of vacation with Isaac and Satan]], it's never followed up on), which is a death sentence in a series that runs on weird people. Not helping is his marriage; getting married has a habit of making islanders OutOfFocus, and it also connected him to [[spoiler:Banana]], his far more unique wife. Vinny says in the Episode 55 that he's probably his least favorite (current) islander.

** For those who dislike Two Faced, seeing Seabiscuit compare her to Birdo in Episode 52 is quite satisfying.

* UglyCute: Plenty of islanders fall under this. A girl with two faces and three eyes? An alien with a huge nose? A sentient hamburger? All considered adorable by the fans, at least when they're depicted in fanart.

** Sponge's only friend is Music/DavidBowie, and he's perpetually depressed. Due to how [[TheWoobie sympathetic]] he is, he's received tons of fanart and attention (helped slightly by [[spoiler:managing to have a vague semblance of a character arc, managing to smile and enjoy himself shortly before the invasion]]).

It gets worse later on during the David Bowie special, where [[spoiler:DK rejects her in the cruelest way seen thus far, by sending Bowser in his stead]], but then it gets better when [[spoiler:Vinny erases that event from the timeline and she asks out Sponge instead, who's far more willing]].

** Due to the in-joke nature of many islanders, those who aren't familiar with Vinesauce's early years may think they originated from this series. While most everyone knows about the origins of Ralph and Sponge and possibly Tucker,[[note]]Tucker was created in one of Vinny's streams of ''Super Mario Bros. [=3Mix=]'', thus at least making him more familiar to Southbird's viewers[[/note]] less are likely to recognize islanders like Alpaca[[note]]Vinny's Paca Plus playthrough predates The Full Sauce, though the streams have been uploaded there as [=VineClassics=][[/note]] or Balegdah[[note]]Balegdah is more closely associated with Darren than Vinny, due to the former's Balegdah video, and Darren isn't as well known as Vinny and generally doesn't archive his streams[[/note]], since the former came from pre-Full Sauce streams. It actually comes from a comment made by Vinny after Clown phased through Clown Lady, likely due to a glitch, some time after his rainy street apartment was replaced with one that looked like a FluffyCloudHeaven.

** Art of Tucker's mom on the Booru is sometimes given the "Mrs. Blankface" tag. Vinny has never actually given her a name and the "Blankface" name is simply a misspelling of Blankfaece, whose Tucker art inspired the character's Mii. The reason Tucker was given that as a last name is because the game doesn't allow Miis to have OnlyOneName, and Vinny rarely gives him a last name (though he did refer to him as Tucker Friendperson during a stream of VideoGame/ChaosCompleXX).
