As soon as the band opened suggestions of what to name it, Buddha (named after the Mars song Buddha for Mary), ended up getting .gifs, a Twitter account and [[AscendedMeme even featured on official Vy RT merchandise]].

** Also, Kings and Queens, which is played right at the end of each show with the band inviting a large amount of people from the crowd on stage.

* [[JustHereForGodzilla Just Here For Jared Leto]]: Attempts were made early in the band's run to avoid this as much as possible. As the band gained more mainstream credibility for being a band that could stand on their own merits, they eased off on these efforts, which included not doing shows that used Jared's fame as a major selling point. Regardless of the time, there has and always ''will'' be mainly there because of Jared's looks. The Echelon dislike it as much as anyone else (even those who do go on about Jared's looks on a regular basis).

* FanCommunityNickname: The aforementioned Echelon.
** Originally Mars Army was intended to refer to both their news letter and the general fanbase as a whole, with Echelon being the name for those members of the fanbase that did active street team promotion for the band. Echelon has largely superceded Mars Army as the main nickname with the advent of social media, regardless if fans do active promotion or not. Mars Army is only (rarely) used by the band within its original context, mainly to refer to the news letter.

* OneOfUs: Mars has themed nights for some of their tour dates where both fans and the band dress up. One of these days? {{Cosplay}} Night. For the inaugural Cosplay Night on the Closer to the Edge tour, Shannon was [[Franchise/{{Naruto}} Kakashi]], Tomo was [[Franchise/{{Naruto}} Itachi Uchiha]] and touring members Braxton Olita and Tim Kelleher were [[Franchise/OnePiece Luffy]] & [[Manga/DragonBall Goku]] respectively.
