Now Flame Bait and Darth.

* WhatAnIdiot: Despite him saying that attacking Optimus, even in a large mob, was stupid back in Punishment, Acid Storm seems content to attack both Windblade and Optimus with a smaller mob. Windblade kicks him in the face.

Foe Yay has been cut.

* FoeYay: Megatron's interactions with both Optimus Prime and Starscream are ''dripping'' with this. At some points he comes off like jilted old friend/lover who hasn't gotten over the break-up as well as he claims.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: The toyline features a number of characters that don't make it into the comic's storyline, most notably a combiner named "Galvatronus," a combiner created and controlled by Cyclonus and Galvatron.

** [[spoiler: Starscream betraying everyone and being the real villain]] manages to be both this and TheUntwist at the same time. The reveal comes so completely out of nowhere that it's an Ass Pull, but it's done with a character who's infamous for typically being played as an ObviousJudas, so it's an Untwist.

* LostInMediasRes: This is a common criticism of the series, as it starts in the middle of the titular war after ''another war'' has finished with only brief introduction videos to give a little bit of backstory, but full explanations about the setting are not given. For example, the audience is never told why the war started, or what exactly the combiners are even doing that constitutes a war. The series seems content that fans will have enough knowledge of pre-existing ''Transformers'' lore to be able to understand the setting, but little changes here and there that make even that confusing at times.

* EnsembleDarkhorse: The show's depiction of Megatron has received surprising acclaim for being a snarky yet intriguing BoisterousBruiser who gets some the best lines. Many have cited him as one of its only saving graces. Jason Mornocha's performance as the character is also praised, and it's likely the reason why he's one of the few actors to carry over to the ''WebAnimation/TheTransformersTitansReturn'' series while almost everybody else was replaced.

While he's famous for his comedic role(s), he does a good job bringing gravitas and world-weariness to Optimus. However, unlike Jason Momocha, he didn't come back for ''Titans Return''.

* BileFascination: The show has become quite infamous among the fandom with many (including Wiki/TFWikiDotNet) considering it to be even worse than the already poorly-received Anime/TransformersEnergon. It isn't hard to want to find out why.

* ContinuityLockOut: One of the biggest criticisms of the show is that the first half does ''very'' little to explain what's going on, leaving viewers without a decent knowledge of ''Transformers'' lore (and sometimes even those who ''do'') extremely confused.

* JustHereForGodzilla: Many consider the show's depiction of Megatron to be the only reason to watch the series.

* {{Padding}}: Starscream spends a full minute flying over an empty Cybertron at the start of the second episode. The scene doesn't really accomplish anything.

* BetterThanCanon: Some fans have pointed to Hayato Sakamoto's Unite Warriors comics as this to both the Combiner Wars comics and animation. They're essentially a LighterAndSofter MassiveMultiplayerCrossover CrackFic granted canon; featuring a number of less mainstream Combiners. Sakamoto's bright and colorful art, combined with a ton of {{Mythology Gag}}s as well as an actual focus on Combiners as characters, has lead to a number of fans finding it more interesting and lively than the main CW stories.

** In episode 5, the Mistress of Flame slams her StaffOfOffice down to emphasize her points. Non fans criticize the numerous errors making the project feel rushed and feel that all the world building and new ideas are pushed back by the combiner fights which aren't as impressive as they hoped.
