* OnceOriginalNowCommon: These days, it's hard to believe this series and ''Series/RoadRules'' were once innovative, ground-breaking reality television shows, especially after the entire genre broke out in the 2000s. ''The Real World'' had to add twists to its formula to create conflict and stir up interest by the end of its run which wasn't enough to keep the show on the air.

** Puck was an obnoxious bully whom no one liked for good reason, but during the second reunion show from 2001, he rightfully called out how unfair it was that Seattle's Stephen, who in spite of ''physically assaulting'' a departing female castmate [[SoreLoser to get the last word in,]] got to stay in the house afterwards.

** For all of the horrible things he said to Pedro, Puck did have a point when he pointed out that Pedro having AIDS was his own fault due to him not using protection when he had sex. Granted, it was still a needlessly judgmental thing to say, especially when you consider that, before the show began, Pedro worked as a lecturer on the importance of safe sex to young people after finding out that he had AIDS and was quite open with the foolishness of his actions when it came to having unprotected sex. Pedro even famously has an onstage trick where he would stick both of his hands inside a regular condom to show how far it could stretch without breaking.

* SeinfeldIsUnfunny: The show was reality television before "reality television" was even coined as a term. Several of the older seasons play out like a [[UnbuiltTrope deconstruction of a reality show]], long before the usual reality TV tropes made their way into the show after the medium broke out in the TurnOfTheMillennium.
