** The whole David Tate reveal provoked mixed reactions, especially after the WhamEpisode that was "Vendetta." Some felt that after TheReveal, the whole David Tate plotline essentially hijacked the entire show by devoting much less time to the more interesting weird storylines. The creators admitted to trying to get the David Tate storyline out of the way as quickly as possible because that what the main storyline from the original Danish-Swedish Series/BronBroen and because they wanted to open up The Bridge to more possibilities that are beyond the scope of just a strict adaptation of Series/BronBroen.
* GrowingTheBeard: Come season 2, when the show producers threw off the restraints of following the plot-by-plot approach of ''Series/BronBroen'' and took the story into their own hands.
* JerkassWoobie: Frye slides into this when he has a tearful breakdown during his TropaholicsAnonymous speech.

Removed "Villain Sue", since it is now a Flame Bait example that should not be allowed; see "Flame Bait" page for more details.

* VillainSue: Fans have raised objections to [[spoiler: David Tate's]] seeming omnipotence, believing it to reach its nadir when he somehow shows up at exactly the right place and time to [[spoiler:CarFu Sonya and Gus.]] And then there's the fact that his plan involves things he has no way of knowing or controlling, such as [[spoiler: Marco having an affair and Alma throwing him out for it.]]

** Marco Ruiz's affair with Charlotte Millwright came across as OutOfCharacter for some viewers, at least at first. Though it is very strongly implied that it's not the first time he's cheated, either on Alma or his first wife.
