* HollywoodUgly: Vera. They make her sound like Quasimodo, but she's a handsome woman.

* AwesomeMoments: Admit it, the use of the Superman fanfare at the conclusion of the junkyard fight gives you chills.

* SignatureScene: Clark Kent vs. Superman. It's one the sequence that virtually everyone liked about this movie.

** The "junkyard fight" between Superman and Clark Kent verges on this, even though it ends with Superman becoming good again and is thus important to the plot. In any case, it's commonly regarded as the best scene of the movie.

** Due to the overuse of BewareTheSuperman years after with the man of steel himself or expies in the comics, the potential been explored intensively since then.

** Despite how incredibly stupid the film is the late ChristopherReeve still gives a sincere performance as Superman, both good and bad - which just makes the wasted plot even more offensive.

This scene likely scared more children than any other scene in the entire series, not helped by the fact that it's easy to miss that [[spoiler: she returns to normal once the computer is destroyed]]. What helped sell it is that [[spoiler: she's still ''screaming incoherently'' as electrified mechanical devices are ''attached to her skin at high speeds''.]]
** The above nightmarish scene is ramped UpToEleven when the same thing [[spoiler:starts to happen to Superman himself not long after. If it wasn't for the beltric acid heating up at just the right time...]]
** The scene where Superman's with Lana and the warped kryptonite begins to affect him. Take the fear a woman can feel at realizing she's alone with a man she doesn't really know and multiply it by, oh, a ''million'' or so. Nothing happens, but it's still probably the most effective and disturbing Evil Superman moment in the movie.

* FridgeBrilliance: It's interesting to see Clark is far less stiff back in Smallville than he is in Metropolis. That's because he's dealing with a girl he knew as a teen, and therefore is more himself around her, even being pixie-ish around Lana. If you wanted to see a midway point between Supes and Clark by Reeves, the picnic scene is it.
