Requires Word Of God confirmation

* AuthorsSavingThrow: This time the series addresses where Superman is during all this chaos: he is [[HeroOfAnotherStory doing crowd control in Madagascar]].

Cut trope and not YMMV

* FamilyUnfriendlyAesop: Kara sees the deaths of Alura, Sam and Mon-El as a consequence of her compromising her values by killing Reign. So the second time around she's merciful enough to let her be DraggedOffToHell by demons instead, which seems like getting off on a technicality.
* IdiotBall: Imra appears to be carrying it this episode. Although it is important that she and Mon-El come to terms with their relationship, it still takes a backseat to the important news that she was ''supposed'' to tell him instead about the revival of Brainiac.

Uh no offence. The majority of the fan base despise mon-el and really hate his relationship with Kara, so I sincerely doubt there was an Internet Backdraft. That and I couldn't find any discussion of said backdraft in the first place.

* InternetBackdraft: After all the build up of Kara and Mon-El still having feelings for each other and having a special moment the previous episode, Karamel fans were outraged that he had to leave again, even saying goodbye to Kara again without so much as a kiss.

* TakeThatScrappy: Even with all the development he's undergone, it's hard to not be amused that after all the hand-wringing over whether Mon-El would end up with Kara or Imra, he gets ''neither''. The knife is twisted further when you realize that Imra was fully aware that Mon-El needed to return with her to the future when she broke up with him.

Even stranger, as their marriage was specifically of the [[ArrangedMarriage political]] kind, implying that the reason for it still exists in the future, and yet they decide to end it because it's "not based on love".

deleted BLAM example as it doesn't reflect what happens in the episode. See talk page.

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: A several-minute-long sequence with Kara travelling back through time comes out of nowhere, with no setup or {{Foreshadowing}}, and has absolutely no effect on plot or characterization. The entire sequence (starting from Sam stabbing Reign up to the time-rewound Kara stopping her) could be cut right out of the episode with no impact on the story at all. Combined with the weird reaper-like wraiths that carry Reign off in the end, it almost feels as if the writers temporarily forgot they were writing an episode of ''Supergirl'' rather than ''Series/TheFlash2014''.

* LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt: Come on does anybody really think that J'onn, Mon-El, and Winn are gone for good? Creator/DavidHarewood had already stated that he was staying for Season 4, and Mon-El is given a CommutingOnABus setup to be called in if Kara ever needs his help, while Jeremy Jordan is also returning, just in a recurring role, so he'll also be CommutingOnABus. Similarly, while it was possible that Sam and Alura could have been KilledOffForReal by Reign (especially as the last quarter of the season had been setting up the possibility of Alex adopting Ruby), it was highly doubtful that Mon-El would have died, especially given the spin-off potential for a ''Legion of Super-Heroes'' series.
