* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: With the eventual revelation/retcon that Julian Bashir is actually a genetically-augmented superhuman whose entire life bears the pattern-scars of self-sabotage rooted in a terrified fear of discovery and self-loathing towards talents he does not see as rightly his own, it's easy to read the simulation program as representing a very different sort of WishFulfillment for him than was originally conceived: a world where he gets to fully exercise his incredible gifts without restraint or fear of discovery, and be rewarded and celebrated for them rather than potentially expose himself and ruin his own life.

Noah developed a series of powerful lasers and placed them at specific spots all over the Earth. When Bashir is brought to his base, Noah [[EvilIsHammy dramatically]] reveals his EvilPlan, believing that human decadence has ruined the world, Noah plans to use his lasers to raise the sea level and kill everyone on Earth except those in his base, who he will then use to repopulate the world. Noah has Bashir and Garak tied up beneath one of the lasers and when Bashir escapes and pretends to have turned to Noah's side, Noah simply calls his bluff and tries to kill him.

While the exact method was a little different, the same basic scheme would be deployed by Dr. Evil in ''Film/AustinPowers'' (another ''FranchiseJamesBond'' parody) the following year.

Nowadays, that would be seen as a massive act of chauvinism on the part of Bashir (or rather, the character he's playing), while Dr. Noah would at least be able to claim that he practices EqualOpportunityEvil.

The fact that the women are there solely to be props and eye candy is exactly the point they were going for. His assistant for example is bilingual and can drive/pilot any vehicle, and yet is only able to get a job as a lowly valet. Therefore this is DeliberateValuesDissonance. Star Trek era men (Bashir included) do not otherwise view women that way. He's just playing along with the character.
