** Hilariously, three notorious users notorious for this have been banned from the Goonstation forums to avoid this type of reaction.

* DiscreditedMeme: Memes popular with [[Imageboards 4chan and ilk]] are verboten on Goonstation.

* {{Squick}}: The Goonservers are very good at this, featuring such ways to die as being force-fed poo until the toxic damage kills you, having your butt surgically removed and worn like a hat, or exploding into LudicrousGibs from contracting GBS.

* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: Almost always happens on the Goonstation servers, especially if it's a bugfix or nerfing a griefmonger feature like Chemistry.
** Also, every suggestion thread on a Goonstation forum will be shot down from someone giving a copy paste answer related to this. This is not to say that some brilliant ideas haven't passed, just that the author had to take far too much time to bullet proof it.

* LoveItOrHateIt: Because of its steep learning curve. It also takes a certain mindset to enjoy it, as your character can be killed very quickly.
** The clown job. People who play the clown a lot love the job while pretty much every other player hates it with a passion (for why, see TheScrappy entry below). Servers frequently suffer problems with crewmembers trying to maim the clown at first sight.

* MaryTzu: Goonstation had the T.U.R.D.S., which started as a project to make an exclusive elite security team controlled by a whitelist of usernames hand-picked by the admins. [[ItSeemedLikeAGoodIdeaAtTheTime Their actual implementation]] turned out to be an unstoppable army of [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin baboon-faced]] heavily-armored mooks with [[MostAnnoyingSound obnoxious]] ''VideoGame/CounterStrike'' guns and an [[ScrappyMechanic implant lock system]] that was imposed on almost every interactive object in the game. The average number of successful traitors rapidly shot down to 0.
** [[WordOfGod The coder responsible for TURDS]] was immediately kicked off the team once it was discovered that they basically coded {{BFG}}s for themselves, and spent every round [[EinsteinSue looking up the round's antagonists]] then [[TheAce latejoining and instakilling them with aforementioned BFGs]]. The idea was reworked into Nanotrasen Enforcers who eventually had the same fate.
** This has all recently been replaced with the revamped Head of Security job, a whitelisted Security Officer with access to everything and an arsenal to boot.

** The security job can be this, due to how prone to abuse it is.

* EnsembleDarkhorse: The station pets are almost always beloved by the crew.

* TheScrappy: The assistant job, in general. This is mostly because, due to the fact that assistants have no set duties, they mostly wander around the station and mess around with people who are trying to actually do their jobs.

* BrokenBase: There used to be a significant amount of mutual hate between SS13 servers and server populations. Nowadays, though, the servers tend to be relatively friendly toward each other, with significant crossover between Goonstation, /tg/station, Baystation, and the other servers' playerbases.

** /tg/station is ''very'' liberal when it comes to [[ImAHumanitarian cooking]]. The kitchen comes equipped with a meat grinder for Will-It-Blend experiments, resulting food will be labeled as "[[DwarfFortress Urist]] [=McAssistant=]'s Meat Burger", and nobody will bat an eye. You can also order ''brain burgers'', which are exactly that: a human brain in burger bun.

** The Atmospheric mechanics are a complete mess. Pretty much everyone that gets the Atmospheric Technician job just grabs the fire axe and go off to do something else, simply because the system is so horribly impractical.

* GrowingTheBeard: Around the time it got new, superior sprites and a far better backstory created by the Goonstation devs. It seems to be growing a second beard now that the various communities have banded together rather than fought with one another.

** The clown is also seen as this, due to some players thinking it's basically a license to do whatever they wish and get away with it. The Mime from /tg/station even moreso depending on the player, as they have the perfect excuse to stay silent the entire round.
** A lot of the more overspecialized jobs like lawyer or librarian can be this. Since jobs like that are only useful on certain occasions, they have nothing to do and may just wander about the station getting in everyone else's way.
