* AluminiumChristmasTrees: The homing smart bullet "[=DARPA=] rounds" really do exist (an electronics system inside the rather large bullet expands and contracts bands to change the bullet's air resistance and steer it mid-flight); however, they're highly experimental and not really practical for real world usage.

* ContestedSequel: While the open world is praised, the technical issues makes some people prefer the preceding games usually because of its simplicity.

* SoOkayItsAverage: If you like sniper games, then you'll probably like this one too. If you don't like sniper games, then it probably won't convert you to the genre.

Added DiffLines:

* DifficultySpike: The DLC "The Sabotage" starts with a warning that it is harder than the main game.
** In the main game, you soon get used to using high powered rifles with high powered scopes, usually with some help from BenevolentArchitecture. The first mission here is to take out a medium-strength outpost with a starter rifle with a low power scope. The enemies are fairly tough, so you need to make a lot of headshots with that rifle, and the architecture is less benevolent.
** Points of Interest are harder to clear, usually requiring tricky climbing and platforming.

* ComplacentGamingSyndrome: Once you unlock the ES-25 (after completing the Loose Ends IV side quest), there’s basically no reason to use any other sniper rifle. It’s semi-automatic, allowing for fast follow up shots, has the highest magazine size out of all the sniper rifles, and it’s damage is on par with the anti-material rifles.

** Scan the mission area with your drone, find some good sniping spots, and patiently take out the enemies one by one. Most missions can be done this way.

* ThatOneLevel: In one of the later missions, you have to navigate a maze-like forest labyrinth to find a secret lab. Said maze is absurdly difficult to navigate, and your map and drone are useless as there's a canopy over the maze blocking your sight from above.

* CompleteMonster: [[MadScientist Dr. Sergei Flostov]] is an enigmatic leader of the 23 Society. Using his [[TheIlluminati secret society]] to spread his influence across the world, Sergei focuses his attention on the northwest region of Georgia, where he funds and supports the various war crimes of Russian-aligned separatists. Eventually, Sergei decided to start off his experiment at creating SuperSoldiers, humans with enhanced physical abilities, by kidnapping numerous men and women and putting them through physical and mental torture, making them completely obedient to his commands. When a person proves to be incapable of being "broken", Sergei declares him "a failure" and sends him to his Slaughterhouse, where they get tortured to death and then hanged from the ceiling in a bag. Torturing Cole Anderson to death, Sergei successfully captures and brainwash Robert North, brother of [[PlayerCharacter Jon North]], into being his chief enforcer by sadistically killing his wife and framing the US government.
