* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Dr. Frankenollie--he manages to maintain that delicate balance of creepily sinister and comically entertaining almost flawlessly, something even particularly famous villains struggle with sometimes, and has the great voice performance of Creator/KelseyGrammer, so of course he's gonna be the BigBad of the short, right? WRONG! Instead, he gets [[FamilyUnfriendlyDeath brutally]] killed off after appearing in only one scene (he was supposed to have more screen-time but ExecutiveMeddling from Disney stopped that from happening). He ''did'' reappear in the [[https://web.archive.org/web/20080509134256/http://www.disney.co.uk/DisneyOnline/Safesurfing/cybernetiquette/netiquette2/index.html CyberNettiquette Comix]] and as part of a framing story for the Disney Tronics line of robot toys sold at the Disney parks.

* VindicatedByHistory: At the time of its release, the short was subjected to much controversy for its surprisingly dark and disturbing material for a Mickey Mouse cartoon, which has led to Disney burying it shortly afterwards. Over time though, the short would obtain a cult following amongst Disney fans and would gain a newfound appreciation in the late 00s and early 10s for its animation, dark tone and Mickey's CharacterRerailment, with many now considering it to be one of his best and most memorable shorts. This change in opinion is likely why Disney has also begun to slowly acknowledge it again as of late, such as Julius’s inclusion in ''VideoGame/KingdomHearts3DDreamDropDistance''.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: An animated short filled to the brim with disturbing imagery and brutal, onscreen death, all featuring a classic children's character! And it’s rated G!
