* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotPolitical: Chapters 1 and 2, and 3 to an extent, can be seen in a different light by some after the protests that occurred after the murder of George Floyd in 2020; Ray's vigilantism can be equated to that of the protesters that come after police brutality occurs, and then you have Morales supporting more funding for the Meva City's police while criticizing Ray over property damage and taxpayer money being wasted, as well as Meva City's general disdain towards Ray and his vigilantism, mirroring the attitude of the detractors regarding protesters. While Chapter 3 acts as a reconstruction of [[ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight Ray's vigilantism]] in the end during [[spoiler: Asuka's speech with Morales]], the first three chapters can leave a bad taste in the mouths of those sympathetic to the protesters since it starts the comic off with a very pro-authoritarian feel given current events due to portraying Ray as reckless and [[spoiler: his punishment at the end of chapter 2/beginning of chapter 3 as warranted over him being a vigilante and the property damage, both which overshadowed ''why'' he was doing it in the first place and how effective he's been (and how its mentioned in the intro how he's "forced by law" to "redeem" himself)]], which mirrors the scenario regarding the protests and its detractors in real life, [[Administrivia/RuleOfCautiousEditingJudgement and that's all that will be said]].

* DesignatedMonkey: Perhaps the biggest criticism the webcomic has been given is how Scott expects the reader to view Ray's persecution at the hands of S.O.S and the media as justified by his recklessness and disregard for the law. Yet the story fails to actually present any negative consequences bad enough to convince the reader to side with S.O.S in that regard and only gave readers the impression that S.O.S and Morales acting on acting LawfulStupid at best or being oppressively authoritarian at worst.

*** Morales' lack of common sense or pragmatism puts him a negative light (especially given the subtle double standard since he seemingly was willing to recruit Natasha, an ''actual'' criminal, for a bodyguard) [[spoiler: atleast until Asuka convinces him to release Ray to the S.O.S]]. Add onto the fact that Morales won't shut up about taxpayer money and was rather antagonistic towards Ray early on in Chapter 1, from spewing demagoguery about him to taunting him in a demonstration match, and it becomes easy to lose all respect for him by chapter 3 regardless of whatever redeeming qualities he has or displays later on.

** Asuka; In chapter 2, she's supposed to be seen as a MamaBear that's keeping Ray out of trouble by forcing him to hang up his vigilante act and imparting wisdom, but can be seen as [[LawfulStupid an pretentiously incompetent officer giving a rather short-sighted and patronizing lecture]] to Ray in Chapter 2, given that her team was nowhere to be found when the Port Town Gang attacked the Meva Arsenal and [[spoiler: kidnapped Morales]]. ** In theory, the story is meant to portray Ray as a reckless vigilante whom refuses to acknowledge his destructive behavior has consequences. In practice, its hard not to sympathize with Ray 100% as a misunderstood hero given that the reader is fully aware of what was going on unlike the citizens as well as the fact that had he not got involved, [[FridgeHorror the officers wounded in the explosion could have ended up killed]] by the Port Town Gang instead, and [[spoiler: Morales would have ended up in their clutches had Ray [[RefusalOfTheCall chosen to not get involved]] like he initially planned]]…Unlike Asuka, he doesn't wait for someone to give him the order to stop crime, which makes it hard to really see him as anything but a victim of Meva City's inability to keep the peace and the S.O.S' slow-response time.

*** The people of Meva city tend to come off as [[UngratefulBastard ingrates]] as well; its true that Ray caused a lot of destruction in his attempts at heroism and he ''did'' hurt some people inadvertently, but be that as it may, [[IdiotBall not one of them bothers to really look into what actually happened in full detail]] to fully comprehend what was going on and they [[spoiler: ''still'' blame him for a train being cut in half despite that Halberd did it infront of everyone when the Port Town Gang kidnapped Morales]]...one cant help but think its not ''just'' Ray that's the issue; its the Meva Province itself and its people as well.

** Summer comes off as abrasive in the first two chapters she appears in, especially towards Ray, but its actually understandable. Its implied she had a rough upkeeping and had to work to get where she is. [[spoiler: Ray on the other hand just got accepted after putting on a show when fighting the Port Town Gang and Liev twice, the latter which eventually caused Asuka to recruit him, which is in direct contrast to her. Add onto the fact that her job is at risk by the time the third chapter hits because of Asuka's lack of foresight, and its hard not to sympathize with her given that she had to go through a lot of hardships while Ray had very little, even if she isn't the primary protagonist]].

Add onto the fact that her job is at risk by the time the third chatpter hits, and its hard not to sympathize with her given that she had to go through a lot of hardships while Ray had very little, even if she isn't the primary protagonist]].
